A gust of wind, thick with the scent of damp earth and pine, swept through the Emerald Forest. Kaito’s mind raced, a frantic scramble of memories.
He was witnessing both teams fighting, standing in awe and complete silence. Kaito couldn't believe he was actually seeing them in real time. No sudden disconnection from the internet to stop him from watching, no sudden power surge to cause a blackout. They were real, he was there within Remnant.
The words and sounds he was hearing echoed, each one a stark, undeniable truth. He pushed a hand through his hair still finding it hard to believe. This wasn't some dream. This wasn’t a game. This was reality, his new reality,
He stared as both teams fought, the vibrant colors, the quick pace....all of it was real.
“Okay, Kaito,” he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. "As long as you stay back and keep watch...you shouldn't get caught in a fight you can't win..."
He knew the layout, the key landmarks. The cliff, the ruins. But what could he do? For all he knew, he was just a normal human. Like Jaune....no, Jaune had a Semblance, Kaito was just well him. No special powers, no weapons...just a civilian caught in a new scenario.
But what could he do? What could he do to prove he could maybe lend a hand or two?
