Letting the Mob Win ATypical Life as a Kaiju Giantess chapter 18 by copier · original author: lllop

Diana said nothing as her father carefully explained the terms of the mob's demands. She had half a mind to simply ignore what he had to say and get back to sulking on top of the park. She was still upset with da- Daniel, and she wasn't in the mood for reconciliation. More importantly, she wasn't interested in whatever hoops the mob wanted her to jump through before they deemed her worthy of being treated like an actual person. None of them wanted her around to begin with, and no matter how hard she tried, people always found some fault with what she did. There was nothing she could do that would change that. No conditions that were imposed on here were ever going to be enough, as she would always be a giant freak, and people were always going to hate her for that.

All the same, she knew she couldn't just stay out in the middle of the park forever. Try as she might to deny it, she wasn't made for resting long hours out on the cold hard dirt, constantly fighting with the nearby trees as her hair got entangled in the nearby branches. All the resentment in the world couldn't bring her to power her way through that.

More than anything, though, she was just tired. She would never quite forget or forgive her dad for what he did, but it wasn't fair that her mom had to suffer as well for his mistakes. It wasn't fair that any chance of her having a normal life was robbed from her without getting a single choice in the matter, but it was far past the point where any power in the world could fix it. She just wanted to go back to how things were, before she was burdened with all this knowledge. She missed being in the city, taking in the sights and admiring her reflection in the nearby skyscrapers. She missed going to the local bookstore and opening the hatch installed on the roof so that she could borrow novels to fumble through with her fingers. She even missed the feeling of concrete under her bare feet, how warm it felt under her soles.

Warts and all, she would always choose to be in the city. Fixing whatever collateral damage she caused along the way was the least she could do in exchange.

"A-alright." Diana stuttered, trying not to choke out the words. "I accept."

Words could not express the pure relief that flooded through every molecule of Daniel's veins. "I-I'm so glad to hear that, Diana. Now let go any meet up with-!"
Before he could finish, the giantess had already gotten up, and effortlessly stepped over him in a single stride. Daniel immediately fell on his ass from the earthquakes, the nearby cars shrieking all at once from the sudden disturbance. He only managed to get up and brush off the dirt just as she disappeared towards the city.

"W-wait, Diana!"

The poor, flustered man rushed to catch up to Diana, huffing and wheezing the entire way. Perhaps it was too much to expect that his daughter had entirely forgiven him, but at least she could have done was allow him a ride back home!

~~~
Right at the outskirts of the city, the mob was waiting as Diana approached them. Looking down at the swarm by her feet, who were comparable to insects before her, she had to wonder why she had ever let them have any sway over her to begin with. Nonetheless, she wasn't in the mood for a fight; she just wanted to get this over with.
The only question was, would they be willing to play ball?
