Night eventually fell over the island paradise that was Hawaii. The tour had gone longer than expected and it was decided that the project would begin tomorrow. For now, Rei would sleep in one of the facility's dorms until then.
While most of the staff were fast asleep and preparing for sunrise, three other souls were still wide awake. Sakurai, Havoc, and Tanaka were all seated together in a small boardroom with a tall bottle scotch between them.
"Gentleman" Sakurai began. "I'd say today was truly eventful." he filled the other's shot glasses. "We made it to the base safely and the tour was a smashing success."
"Agreed." Havoc spoke as he down his drink. "And having that other kaiju here will help move our plans forward that much quicker."
"Indeed." Tanaka chimed in. "Rei is invested. Now all we have to do is test her tomorrow. If all goes well then, we can begin the process of turning her into a Kaiju we can mold."
His continued failure to create a deterrent in the even Haruka lost control had been driving him up a wall. He had near unlimited funding and equipment and yet he couldn't invent a single thing to take that monster down. Hopefully Sakurai's little gamble would bear fruit.
"That and we'll also have to wait for the DNA test to come back as well." Havoc reminded the eyepatch wearing man. "It won't matter what tests we preform if her genes aren't strong enough."
"She's strong enough." Sakurai said confidently as he sniffed his drink, savor the sweet smell of alcohol. "I have complete confidence that she will be the key to us finally becoming the leaders of the world."
Havoc agreed with his partner, though Tanaka was still a bit wary. "She's still just a child. We're investing a lot into her and if something goes wrong then we'll be in a real bind. Are you sure Project Monster Hunter isn't the best course of action?"
Sakurai sighed. "Like it or not Tanaka, your robots have been ineffective. This new project requires a more human touch."
Tanaka wasn't happy, but he nodded his head. "Fine, but I still believe advanced robots is the best option. With a machine you can program a strict set of guidelines to follow. A human? A human is unpredictable. Dangerous even."
The one-eyed man finally downed his drink.
"I am aware, and that why it will be up to us to mold her." Sakurai replied. "Rei will be the shining beacon that turns the table in our favor. Tomorrow, we will have our perfect kaiju."
Sakurai down his drink with a loud gulp. He slammed his glass down and smiled. Tomorrow would be a big day of Rei and the facility of B.L.A.C.K.
