You vaguely recalled hearing the girls mention something about a shopping trip so, most likely they weren't at home and while you were always welcome (and in fact, lowkey dragged into many times) it wasn't exactly the #1 thing on your list of things to do to relax on a weekend. Spending time with Jen would be awesome but the juice's almost not worth the squeeze when Lillian's and Zuemy's shenanigans get factored in. Cindy is pretty fun to hang out with too though but she probably went along.

At that moment, your phone made a "Ping!" noise and upon looking at it you saw a Youtube notification that reminded you of something else you had nearly forgotten about: A stream. But it wasn't just any stream at random, this was something else: A Vtuber unlike most in more ways than one. She suddenly appeared on the Internet about a year ago and somehow the algorithm got you to watch her debut, completely underground in terms of fame but with unparalleled charm. For sure this wasn't just a veteran coming back under a new guise, it showed that this girl was new to it yet she had quite a lot of natural talent for it and it paid off because she grew surprisingly fast although she didn't become your typical big e-celebrity, instead choosing to stay true to her roots even though her audience grew each day. At first, her popularity's growth wasn't as fast because she also wasn't exactly the kind of orthodox beauty that the vtubing space expected, breaking the mold in more ways than one.

It was none other than Pudding-chan, known as Pudds by her followers. Her avatar was very curvaceous and pretty rotund, somewhat similar to the famous Stay Puft and her character lore had it that she was just a bunch of marshmallows that one day came to life and claimed that Stay Puft was a distant uncle of hers though she specifically denied ever growing big and going on any destructive rampages, instead just wanting to give everyone soft marshmallowy hugs. For an indie one, her model was surprisingly sophisticated as it had pretty state-of-the-art-looking physics that according to herself were actually accurate to her body's, demonstrating with her hands that the size of her avatar's curves were true to real life, another rarity in this sort of thing and yet she wasn't that much of a thirst trapper, she was mostly a nerdy otaku and gamer but she did respond to her fans, who kept inquiring about her looks or even her identity, even donating surprising amounts of money for the slightest tidbits of info. She revealed very vague bits but she insisted that to stay true to vtubing she had to "Clark Kent it" as she called it and even told her viewers that it was more fun that way because it meant that if they ever saw a chubby girl out there, they'd have to wonder if it could be her.

You wouldn't admit it openly to practically anyone but you did find her model cute with her voice and personality getting you to picture a very pretty and cute girl with possibly a physique to give the likes of Lillian, Jen, Cindy, Yamile, Brooke or even the gigantic Kaneli a run for their money. Of all of them and as you would've expected, Cindy was the one who talked to you about her and seemed to be an avid follower as well, which made sense. You pictured that the two would probably get along really well if they met. Smiling as you thought of that scene, you picked up your phone and tuned in to the stream where you were welcomed by a "starting soon" screen as it's usually the case, giving time for more people to gather and for Pudds to get her stuff ready. You texted Cindy to let her know about Pudds' stream in case she missed the notification and went to grab some nice chocolate milk to sip while watching. Minutes later, the screen shifted to Pudds' virtual room and she greeted her viewers before she started the stream proper.

For this one, she showcased a new indie game that had literally launched on that very same day: A rogue-like shooter where you are some kind of germ with various different types to choose from such as parasitic worms, bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoans like amoebas and more, with many of these hidden behind in-game achievements rather than DLC. You'd been following up on this game as you did like some biology stuff though you would've preferred to play as the immune system, the good guys. In any case, it was a pretty cool game with surprisingly good graphics that made it really seem like cells in an organic battlefield, picking up many fun weapons such as lasers, electric bolts or even some kind of chemical shotgun. Pudds was new to the game like everyone else but she proved to be a fast learner and getting skilful at it pretty quickly.

Usually you preferred to experience the game by yourself but Pudds had a way to make it feel like she was a friend playing with you at your house, maybe something about the way she talked or her genuine warmth, keeping things entertaining but managing not to make them feel forced. There were moments where she had to go silent to concentrate, such as the Liver level which had many cramped spaces full of hostile attackers, there was the Stomach too where not only she had to deal with the body's defenses but competing parasites and the stomach's own acid as well, making for a wild ride of a level. The Lungs were not just visually impressive but nearly flipped the game on its head with all the air-based hazards and obstacles that were there, making the way all the more complicated. She did find it funny that the level even featured coronavirus as enemies, which some considered a rather dark joke but she was quick to point out that in spite of her playing as a pathogen, she was doing the guy a favor by destroying the viruses in his lungs and even wondered if she was really the bad guy as he seemed riddled with disease given all the worms, bacteria and parasites fighting her along the way.

Eventually, she reached the Heart level which seemed by all intents and purposes to be the final area. The boss was some kind of heart cell but shown as a monstrous one with the abilities of many of the previous enemies she fought like firing homing antibodies at her pathogen, summoning lightning as a reference to the heart's electric impulses, shooting laser beams and rhythmical pulsating shockwaves, referencing the heart's beats themselves. It was the sturdiest boss so far and it made for a very tough battle that she narrowly won and only then, a hidden passage was revealed and upon entering, the game showed the true final area: the brain, a seemingly endless maze full of the previous levels' bosses, granting legendary weapons and other incredible rewards to really help strengthen for the final battle.

Pudds was a little nervous and didn't even know what sort of final boss the brain would have, speculating along with the audience with some people betting on some braincell although they did appear as regular enemies already. In the end, it turned out that the game's final boss was none other than the brain-eating amoeba, which kind of made sense. A faster, stronger and far more versatile enemy. It didn't boast the abilities of the heart boss but its own arsenal was impressive, including some special attacks that made the playable pathogen "hallucinate" by turning the screen into a spiralling psychedelic mess for a few seconds, making it very hard to dodge its numerous attacks. Pudds managed to beat it at the last second with just 1 HP left, after which the game's true ending, only teased in the demo, was finally shown: The guy who had died of a heart attack in the standard ending following the boss' defeat rose up as a zombie, the screen went black as noises made it clear that he went and attacked people, implying that the titular pathogen possessed the man as a whole and controlled him as the first of a presumed zombie apocalypse.

The audience was beyond hyped by the ending and the overall playthrough, which she made into quite the rollercoaster with plenty of close calls and some funny fumbles that she absolutely capitalized on. She even joked that her own heart was racing more than the one in the game. Throughout the stream she had shared tidbits of medical knowledge about the real life versions of the pathogens and immune cells seen in the game, though she claimed that she had a friend who knew a lot more than her and told her about this stuff. The audience teased her and tried to pry into her real life to no avail as it had become usual for her. The banter went on and after a while, she seemingly relented, revealing some more bits about her life such as the fact that she had multiple female friends and one male friend, which immediately elicited a lot of discussion amongst the chat.

You weren't one to actively participate much on the streams but the chat activity and its interactions with her were half the fun of the whole thing though you found it a bit cheesy, akin to how Cindy described to you what idol culture was like in Japan. However, when the chat tried to press Pudds about her male friend, she giggled and casually told them that she does like him but he hasn't even noticed it yet and mentioned an anecdote of hers, that she even sent him pictures of herself with her back turned and wearing all manners of tight, short shorts and swimwear to gauge his reactions and that all she got was nice, supportive compliments in response. Some people in the chat were starting to get mad and she caught on this, quickly adding that it's not like he doesn't find her attractive but he was probably too embarrassed or focusing on cheering her that the thing went over his head.

'Heh, what kind of schmuck gets nice pictures of such a pretty girl showing off her curves and doesn't realize what she's getting at? Man, I guess some people really are anime protagonist level of dense' You enjoyed a hearty chuckle of your own upon hearing Pudds' anecdote but a few seconds later, you paused as you just went over it again in your head 'Huh, wait a minute' You got thoughtful for a moment because that story did strike you as suspiciously familiar 'Could it be...?' You wondered 'Hmm. Nah, it'd be way too much of a coincidence, plus, there's no way that could ever be true' You then resumed watching the stream some more 'Oh, I should clip this and send it to Cindy later, bet she's gonna have a good laugh too'

After clipping and saving that bit for later, you continued watching Pudds' stream until it ended. Before saying farewell she always reminded the audience of her plans for upcoming streams and talked some more about other stuff going on with her life, which was nice but as most things in life, it eventually came to an end and so you sat in front of the computer, wondering what to do next...
