Even though your first plan was based on meeting this world's or timeline's version of Lillian, you felt like Aunt Betty really wanted you to choose her instead, and feeling a bit guilty for not getting to spend much time with the version of her you knew, you decided to at least make this one happy. However, that meant you'd have to back out of your intended plan with Jen. Almost like a knee-jerk reflex, you hesitated, as that'd likely make you lose some points in her book, but then you had to reassure yourself that this was not the Jen you liked and knew anyway.
You walked out of the kitchen and found Betty sitting on the couch snacking on some chicharrones [Mexican pork rinds]. You sat next to her and she immediately took notice
"Waiting for your friends?" She asked with the kind voice you had grown used to
"Actually, I did some thinking, and I decided I should take you up on your offer" You said, blushing a little. That only intensified when you saw her eyes lit up.
"Aww! Really? That's so sweet!" She happily wrapped an arm around you, but making sure not to touch you with her slightly greasy hand. She managed to hug you to her chest in this manner and smiled. You laughed a little, feeling genuinely happy for her, making a mental note to try and do the same for the one from your world too sometime.
Shortly after that, Jen came back with her cellphone and you had to tell her of your change of plans. Thankfully, she didn't seem all that bothered, and instead she playfully nudged you.
"I think someone's becoming an Auntie's boy" She giggled
"I'm not..." You said with slightly narrowed eyes "I just decided to spend some time with her because I haven't in a while..."
"Fair enough. If I had an aunt half as cool as her, I'd love to hang out with her too" Jen smiled and gave you a thumbs up
"I think Lillian's gonna have to make due with witnessing what I'll unleash after eating that bean casserole, which by the way, was delicious. Your mom's a supreme chef, tell her I said hi" Jen said before waving goodbye and going on her merry way to presumably torture Lillian in the usual way you remembered, albeit with the roles reversed.
"See you at school!" She added and you closed the door. You shuddered for a bit, as you had inadvertently dodged quite a bullet, or more accurately, an entire shoot-out.
You turned to see Aunt Betty still sitting on the couch, but clearly, she was giggling from your exchange and not from whatever was on TV. You chuckled at the sheer silliness of the overall situation, and even temporarily forgot that you were stranded in a foreign world. It felt too familiar despite its differences. You can only wonder if the alternate you is having a similar experience in your world, though in hindsight, save for the different personalities, this one seems a tad nicer overall.
"So... What do you want to do?" You ask her as she finishes her pork rinds, what does she say...?
