As tempting as spending the rest of the day playing videogames was, you knew you still needed to get whatever info you could get on this world. By now, it was clear it was different in a way from yours, but you still didn't know if it was truly a whole different world, or if yours got altered somehow.
'Thinking about it... that's going to be real hard to prove...' You thought. Still, you knew you needed to know more before you could try doing anything, Hopefully, there must be a way to go back, if it's indeed another world, or a way to rest things back to how they were, if it's the same one but altered. You felt like you were just put on a crazy quest meant for someone much smarter than you.
"You know, I feel like I haven't visited the mall in a while... let's go there..." You said, making Lillian smile. But it wasn't the smug smile you knew, it was a genuine one. It made you blush a little.
"Ugh... can we at least get an U-car or something? I hate walking that much..." Jen said and you couldn't help but chuckle. That was definitely Lillian tier level of laziness right there. You stopped in your tracks at the name however.
"A what?" You raised an eyebrow
"You know, an U-car, like taxis but cheaper..." Lillian said
"Wait a minute, Blaise, you have the friggin app and an account, how did you even forget the name?" Jen said, now raising an eyebrow herself at you
"Huh?! Oh... Yeah, I just didn't really pay attention to how it was called, my bad..." You said, quickly turning your phone's screen on to browse through your apps. You remembered you had made a mental note earlier to check on your phone, wondering if it'd reveal anything further. Your eyes widened, as your phone was mostly intact, with all the apps you knew from your original world. Given the current context, you had to guess that what they were talking about was this world's version of Uber.
Before you could do anything, you noticed that there was mobile network signal, but the app refused to work, as if there were no internet. You then wondered if this world's equivalent of Google Playstore would let you download the correct app, but surprisingly, that also refused to work.
'Well shit... I thought Google would be a constant across universes...' You chuckled quietly
'Wait, I'm gonna be in real trouble if I can't get the damn app to work!' Your heart started pounding, looking at your phone, wondering if there'd be a way out of this one. You regretted assuming your phone worked just fine, and guessed that maybe staying at home to play videogames might've been the right call until you could figure some more stuff out. Then, it hit you like a bucket of cold water. There was one app that you knew for a fact you had never seen or installed ever before.
'X-Plore' It read, its logo was a green glowing X in a black background, and it reminded you of the old Xbox logo, which you knew about from some of Ariadne's old magazines. It looked suspiciously like a gaming app, but you felt it might have been intentional. You also remembered that the last time you did anything remotely weird with your phone it backfired pretty badly at you, so, you wonder if the risk is worth the reward. Can this mysterious app even save your case? Only one way to find out...
