It was at that moment that you noticed a group of monsters emerging from the jungle around you. You recognized them, they were elemental slimes, the weakest kind of monsters in the game. But they were supposed to be a product of the Dark Emperor's corrupted presence, why were they still around?
"These monsters have always been native to these worlds" Riddith explained "The Dark Emperor only made them multiply and grow stronger, but they've always existed, specially in areas where nature is pure"
"You don't look too worried" You said.
"I mean, come on, they're slimes..." She nonchalantly shrugged.
"I remember you being scared of them..." You teased.
"That was A LONG time ago!" She pouted "Anyway, you should protect me, my honorable disciple!"
"Oh, is that all I am? A simple disciple!" You said with a half smile.
"Oh, shut up! You know you're my dear Summoner!" She said, her expression easing "Let's get rid of these pests"
Riddith effortlessly blasted the slimes to bits with her Light goddess powers. And you found that with the endgame sword you got, it wasn't precisely difficult for you either, one slice or poke and they burst.
"Well, that wasn't so bad" You said, but then, more slimes and larger ones appeared, the ones you knew as King Slimes.
"Aww, come on!" You huffed as you and Riddith fought those as well, none of them was an actual match for her powers nor your weapon. Even though the King Slimes were as large as a person and looked intimidating, they weren't anywhere near a credible threat.
"I think our spiritual power might be attracting them" Riddith said just as even more slimes appeared, this time, house-sized ones, Kaiser Slimes, appeared. Feeling the anger well up in you at the constant bother these provided, you slashed with your sword and unleashed a gigantic crescent-shaped energy wave, containing energy from all elements, which vaporized each and every slime in the surrounding area, although nothing else from the environment was damaged.
"Holy heck what was that?" You said in disbelief.
"That was your Super Limit Burst silly" Riddith laughed and took your hand "Let's go somewhere more peaceful"
You reached a beach area, with shiny, white sand. Was this the stardust beach she mentioned at the game's finale? It was way more impressive in person.
"I suppose large sources of elemental energy such as ourselves will usually draw out monsters out of their hiding" She said "But let's ignore that and have some fun!" She snapped her fingers and changed her goddess clothes into a cute swimsuit, rainbow themed like her hair. Sha had two large mugs, one filled with a glowing orange drink and another with a blue one, also with a glow of its own.
"Where did you get that?" You asked.
"I made them before you woke up and kept them nice and chilly in an ice world" She gleefully replied.
'Of course, a goddess with the power to open portals and travel between worlds uses one of these as a freezer...' You quietly sighed, and she pouted in response, reminding you that she was aware of your thoughts.
"Anyway, what are those made of?" You then asked.
"They're juice from the fruits here in this beach! The locals recommended them" She said.
"Are they safe to drink?" You then asked, feeling a bit worried.
"Of course! I mean the locals drink these all the time, and these were made by the hand of a Goddess" She giggled "And no, they have no alcohol, not that it works on us, since you're basically a god too..."
"But, isn't this like another world or dimension? Maybe it's harmless to them but not to us..." You said, still feeling a bit wary of drinking something unknown.
"Oh hush, nothing bad will happen, we're both immune to disease and most curses" She said, handing you the mug with the blue drink and began sipping the orange one.
"Uh, okay..." You reluctantly played along so as not to anger her.
[Cut off point for paths 2 and 3]
You two downed your drinks. The one you had was like a sort of blueberry soda but with a sweeter flavor you couldn't quite describe, but at least it was nothing too alien, and nothing happened after drinking it.
"See? Just nice and refreshing!" Riddith then summoned a small box containing 4 chili dogs. You remembered that even though her character art didn't have it, her in-game sprite actually held both drinks in one hand and the hotdogs in the other.
"Didn't know they had hotdogs here this far in another world..." You remarked.
"Some things never change, humans are humans after all" She giggled, handing you two of the hotdogs. You figured nothing could go wrong at this point so might as well eat something. Even if things went wrong, Riddith was supposed to be able to heal injury and disease, but you hoped it wouldn't come to that.
Against your dreadful expectations, Riddith's chili dogs were just tasty and harmless, so you two laid on a towel she summoned and basked in the sun, waiting for a bit before going for a swim into the crystal clear waters. It was actually quite relaxing, it was only the two of you and some birds with unreal colors and natural glow of their own.
Just then, and with no warning whatsoever, an enormous tentacle emerged from the sea and cast an ominous shadow over the two of you before slamming down. Riddith however conjured a powerful barrier that blocked the bow while you grabbed your sword and got ready for another fight. You dashed out of Riddith's barrier and sliced the tentacle off, only then stopping to wonder how you were doing this, it was as if your body already knew, even though you only had basic boxing training at best.
'Don't question it and just keep going' Riddith's voice echoed in your mind. The severed tentacle grew back astonishingly quickly, and then emerged a massive squid-like creature, a King Kraken.
"For the love of... can these monsters leave us alone?!" You shouted and charged at the angry monster. Going by the game's logic, you should be able to kill it in a single strike, but after repeated slashes, all the damage you inflicted regenerated, much to your growing frustration. Riddith had even joined, firing light energy beams from her hands, burning the monster, but just like with you, it wasn't enough, its healing factor easily beat out the damage you two inflicted.
"Welp, now what?" You asked her before the two of you dashed out of the way of a giant tentacle that smashed down on the sandy ground.
"We need more firepower to take this thing down" She said. At that moment, you noticed you could see her Limit Burst gauge if you thought about it, and then your own. Unfortunately they had very little charge.
"I don't think the Summoners' Hall can help us when we're in the middle of frickin nowhere" You replied, slicing off another tentacle, though it grew back just as quickly. You then observed that the severed pieces from the kraken turned into water energy and were being reabsorbed by the beast.
"Are you really this silly?" She then asked you with a frown.
"What...?"
"Blaise, you're a Summoner! Get your summons in here!" She said, surprising you by using your actual name, since you had named your own Summoner with your online nickname, not with your real one.
"I don't even know how!" You said, narrowly avoiding getting grabbed by one of the kraken's tentacles, pinning it to the ground by stabbing it with your sword. This succeeded in making the beast writhe in pain until it tore off its own tentacle to break free.
"All you have to do is think about them, concentrate a little and they will appear! You're not a rookie summoner that needs elaborate rituals and seals and all that jazz!" Riddith said, sounding a little frustrated, as if you were expected to know this all by heart.
"Sorry... I'll distract this thing, but hurry up! I don't wanna end up like Ling-Ling!"
That name, you hadn't heard it in a long while. Ling-Ling was a green haired secretary of the Summoners' Hall, she mostly assisted you on Raids and also served as the main communicator between the Hall and your Summoner. She even got her own quest line, which amusingly enough, consisted of her having a hell of a bad day, as slimes melted most of her clothing, she got assaulted by minor krakens and was later attacked by harpies, with your Summoner coming to rescue her before things got too ugly. You could hardly believe such content made it into a mainstream game while Cindy found it absolutely hilarious. In any case, the reference was clear.
"Okay, concentrate..." You muttered, dashing away from the ongoing battle and closing your eyes. You could feel this strange energy in your body, coursing through it while focusing on bringing your squad here. The flow of energy intensified, you could even feel the elemental forces traveling through the nerves in your arms: Water, Light and Darkness, those were the energies you needed, and before you knew it, there was a blinding glow, one that you could even sense with closed eyes, and just then, when you opened them, your 4 summons stood before you: Serena, Xel Ha, Neithhotep, and of course, your first summon Reeva.
"Wow..." You said, impressed by the fact that you summoned them for real, but also by how they looked in the flesh. The girls all blushed a little, most notably Reeva, who then cleared her throat.
"We're here, Master! What are your orders?" She said.
"Thank you. We need to eliminate that thing" You said, pointing at the Kraken, which had already managed to grab Riddith and looked like it was going to try to eat her.
"How did she even get caught?" Neithhotep wondered out loud, quickly firing a dark energy beam that cut off the tentacle holding Riddith.
"What an amateur goddess! Let a real one show how it's done" Xel-Ha laughed before grabbing one of her floating light swords and launched the rest at the Kraken, piercing its body with them. Then she rushed towards it.
"Let's do it ladies!" Serena said, riding on her bubble dolphin and heading towards it, swinging her weapon, which formed giant bubbles infused with water elemental energy, which upon hitting their target burst into countless sharp ice shards.
Reeva, who was standing before you, gave you a playful wink before she turned around and pulled her bow, forming a water arrow which she then fired at the beast...
"These monsters have always been native to these worlds" Riddith explained "The Dark Emperor only made them multiply and grow stronger, but they've always existed, specially in areas where nature is pure"
"You don't look too worried" You said.
