Leo stared at the message.

“Might keep it 😈 jk jk (unless?)”

“Jesus,” he muttered, setting the phone down carefully like it might explode.

“Let me guess,” Bri said, sipping her tea. “Syd flirting again?”

“She said she might keep my body. I don’t know if she’s kidding.”

“She’s mostly kidding,” Bri said. “But also? She does love pretending to be straight for a few days. She thinks it’s hilarious.”

Leo blinked. “That’s... concerning.”

Bri just shrugged, then reached for a box under the bed. “So. You’ve got maybe four hours. Want to get to know your boobs?”

Leo choked again. “What?!”

“I’m kidding! Mostly.” She pulled out a black tank top and a pair of leggings. “But seriously, if you’re staying in my body, you should at least move in that thing. I'm not much of a jock, but it’s a cute body. You’ll like how it feels to stretch.”

He hesitated. Then: “You’re being really chill about this.”

“I’m two months into a gender anthropology seminar where half our assignments are done in someone else’s body,” Bri said. “I swapped with Syd on the first day of class and we never really swapped back. It’s kind of… fun.”

Leo looked at her more carefully now—her face, her posture, her dry smirk. This wasn’t the busty girl from earlier. This was someone else. Someone amused by the whole absurd game.

He stood. The body moved differently—lighter on the feet, more bendy, like it didn’t creak when he got up. He tugged the hoodie tighter out of instinct.

“Go look in the mirror,” Bri said.

He shuffled into the bathroom. The mirror over the sink was framed with fake vines and little Polaroids of Syd making funny faces. He caught sight of himself—herself—and paused. Brown eyes, dark circles, no makeup. A small, sleepy face with lips that turned down at the corners. She looked serious. Studious. Kind of cute in a quiet, cool-girl way. The kind of girl Leo usually avoided because he assumed she was too smart to talk to him.

And now he was her.

He poked one cheek, frowned, then smiled. It looked weird. He laughed—an actual giggle, higher-pitched than he expected. That was weird too.

Bri called from the other room. “You okay in there?”

“Yeah,” Leo said. “Just… adjusting.”
