The New World of SwapTech

The girl—tallish, elegant in a way that didn’t scream sorority—led Leo down the hall and into a dorm room lit with soft string lights and scented like vanilla and weed. There were two beanbags, a mattress on the floor, and posters for queer indie films Leo had pretended to understand during undergrad.
She gestured to the mattress. “Shoes off. You’re gonna want to lie down.”
Leo collapsed onto it gracelessly, tugging the stupid heels off and groaning. His ankles ached. His calves were trembling. Even his butt was sore. How do girls live like this?
The girl handed him a Gatorade.
He blinked. “Thanks. Wait, I never got your name.”
She hesitated. “I go by Jules right now.”
“…Right now?”
Jules sat down beside him, cross-legged. “I clocked you the second you stepped into the stairwell. Lola swaps all the time. You didn’t move like her, didn’t talk like her. Didn’t flirt like her either.”
Leo flushed. “Guess I’m not a natural.”
Jules laughed. “You’re fine. She’s just… very Barbie-core, all the time. It’s intense.”
There was a pause. Leo took a long drink of Gatorade.
Then Jules said, “I’m not Jules, by the way. Not originally.”
Leo blinked. “You too?”
“Yeah. Long-term swap. Gender Theory 440, with Dr. Kalifa? It’s a full-immersion semester.”
Leo sat up a little. “So, like... you’re a guy?”
“Was. Am. Depends on the day.” Jules shrugged. “I’m Julian under the hood. This is my girlfriend’s body. We’re co-taking the course. Sort of an experiment-slash-kink thing.”
Leo’s brain stalled.
“You... swapped with your girlfriend?”
“Yep. For credit. She’s driving my meat suit around, probably bench-pressing something or getting in a dumb argument on Reddit.”
Leo blinked again. “And you’re okay with that?”
“Honestly? I’m loving it. It’s like... I didn’t know I had all these dials until someone turned them. And now I can’t stop playing with them.”
Leo stared. “So this isn’t, like, weird to everyone?”
“Oh, it’s definitely weird,” Jules said, laughing. “But on this floor? It’s kinda normal. Swapp makes everything fuzzy. Gender, identity, even horniness. Especially horniness.”
Leo’s stomach flipped. He was suddenly very aware of his borrowed cleavage and the glitter stuck to his inner thighs.
“So... what am I supposed to do?” he asked.
“Just feel it,” Jules said softly. “Don’t overthink. Don’t try to be her. You’re in her body, not her soul.”
Leo looked down at his pink nails, the sheer top that hugged his unfamiliar curves. He’d felt like an imposter all night.
But maybe that was the point.
He looked back up. “Do you—uh—mind if I crash here for a bit?”
Jules smiled. “Of course. I’ll even braid your hair, if you want.”
Leo let out a soft, bewildered laugh.
For the first time since the swap, he didn’t feel like he was about to puke.
He just felt... curious.
