“I’m telling you, this is worse than the ayahuasca smoothie trend,” Leo said, pacing across Director Mantle’s office.

Director Mantle, composed as always in her conservative blouse and horn-rimmed glasses, gave him a neutral stare.

“They’re trading bodies like Pokémon cards,” he said. “We’ve had three cases of swapped students trying to seduce each other’s parents. And I’m pretty sure someone’s pet chihuahua got swapped with a freshman for TikTok.”

Mantle steepled her fingers. “Leo, I hear you. But as of now, Swapp is not against university policy.”

“It should be! Someone swapped into my TA last week and told my class to ‘do your own damn homework.’ And then he twerked. Twerked, Director.”

Mantle gave the faintest smirk. “Adaptability is a key skill for today’s leaders.”

Leo narrowed his eyes. “Wait. Are you… Are you swapped right now?”

She sipped her tea. “That’s a private matter.”

“Oh my God. You are. You’re not even Director Mantle today, are you?”

She shrugged. “Technically, I’m off-duty. But I do enjoy Mantle’s closet.”

Leo looked her up and down. Her blouse was slightly too tight. Her chest definitely didn’t look like it used to. And she was wearing heels he’d never seen her wear.

“So you’re telling me,” Leo said, “you’re LARPing as your boss because you like her shoes?”

Mantle's smile deepened. “Also, her office. And her parking space.”

Leo stood, fuming. “So that’s why nothing’s changing. You all like this chaos. You’re part of it.”

Mantle’s eyes twinkled. “It’s a new era, Leo. Maybe loosen up. Try being someone else for a day. You might enjoy it.”

He left the office swearing vengeance.
