Leo liked to think of himself as a serious guy. 24 years old, master’s student in applied linguistics, partial to quiet nights, herbal tea, and the New Yorker crossword. He had taken the RA job for floor 7 of Greenfolk Hall for the free housing and a misguided belief that he could inspire “young minds.” What he got instead was a co-ed floor of hormonal undergrads, vaping business majors, and wannabe TikTok stars with a collective attention span of a goldfish.

And now—God help him—they had discovered Swapp.

It started innocently. A sign-up link in the floor group chat. A few jokes. A request for Leo to “verify if Swapp was, like, against housing policy or whatever.” Leo skimmed the TOS, found no clear legal reason to stop it, and told them to be responsible.

That was his first mistake.

His second mistake was assuming responsibility meant not using the app to switch bodies at 2 a.m. on a Tuesday so two roommates could “try out each other’s yoga routines and see whose hips were lying.”

Tonight’s headache started with a knock.

A very loud, panicked knock.

Leo opened his door to find one of his residents standing before him. In front of him was Ava, a petite girl in pink pajama shorts and a crop top that said “Daddy’s Little Problem.”

ehind the eyes, though, was unmistakably the dead-eyed stare of Evan Chang, .

“Leo,” said Ava. “I need help. You have to stop her!”

Leo blinked. “I’m sorry, what?”

From down the hall, Evan Chang - the nerdy, lanky resident League of Legends gremlin from Room 712 - was walking unsteadily down the hall in boxer shorts and a T-shirt.

“She jerked off in my body!” Ava growled.

“I was curious!” Evan protested. “Besides, it's my penis at the moment!”

Leo massaged his temples.

“Okay. Okay. We are going to speak one at a time. Evan, did you consensually swap bodies with Ava?”

“Yes," Evan's words came from Ava's mouth.

“And when you did so, did you agree to… test-drive each other’s, um, features?”

“No!” said Evan. “I said she could feel how my back hurts in downward dog. Not see what my O-face looks like in the mirror!”

"Oh, like you weren't going to do that the instant I wasn't around," Ava shrugged, and openly reached down her boxer shorts and readjusted her junk. Leo was almost impressed at how shameless she was.

"Get your hands out of there," Evan swatted at Ava's hands, and it was clear in this moment just how much taller Evan's body was than Ava's, with nearly a full foot on her. Ava put up both hands in a "relax" gesture, while Evan pouted.

"Leo, you have to fix this!" Evan whined. Behind Evan, Ava made a 'psycho' gesture near her head with her right hand.

"I don't control the app. How long did you set it to last for?" Leo asked.

"Two hours," Ava chimed in. "That was an hour ago."

"So it seems like you've got an hour left," Leo said. "But Ava, can you please be respectful of Evan's body?"

Before she could reply, the fire alarm went off.

“Oh, what now?” Leo groaned.

As the undergrads spilled out of their room and started evacuating toward the stairs, Leo looked down the hall and saw two cheerleaders sprinting out of Room 705, screaming, followed by a very angry guy in a towel.

“Oh yeah, Rachel swapped into her boyfriend’s roommate,” whispered Evan, still in Ava’s body. “And then tried to seduce her own body. Like, from the outside. I don’t know, man. It got really Freudian.”

Leo said to no one in particular, “I have a thesis due in three days.”
