Phil would continue to bang on the door until he could feel every pained throb of his fist. Huffing and puffing the boy would simply turn to look out at the bright world before him.
...
Then a odd thought occurred to him. He was alone. For one of the first few times in his life he was honestly truly alone. Indeed surely his Ms Prittey would be trying to look for him. She wouldn't just leave him out here right? He sat down next to the edge of the door and tried his best to wave off the fear. "Yep, no way a t-teacher would just f-forget about you."
...
Alone. Alone alone. Phil had no idea how long it had been. But no one was coming to get him. A feeling that at first had brought him absolute dread instead slowly gave way to an bright fluttery feeling. A free feeling. He was free. No more looming watchful eyes! Sure it stung to think that the person his mother had trusted to keep him just left him out here. BUT on the other hand that was a rather Shiney looking toy car over there!
...
Curiosity gently took Phil by the hand and guided him over to what looked to be a full toy track. A group of girls and a woman were walking away like a distant thunderhead of color. Was this some kinda science or robot class? Phil remembered his own mother helping him build a car quite like this. Stepping into the driver's seat he found (oh plot contrivance of Plot contrivance.) that it actually WAS one of the Same cars. Even having the same wires that could crossed to give the insides its own controls. Hah! A brash pride filled his head as he quickly and effectly hot wired the tiny car and started it going. He would joyfully give the track a few run through before letting out a small scream as he collides with one of the barriers around the track shoving it out of the way. He was now free and had a car? He... he could go now... go where ever he wanted!
...
But his mothers voice filled his ears, of how excited she was that he would have a chance to be a normal boy at a normal school! ... but didn't normal boys also get to explore and play? ... looking around he realized that the car could help him actually get back inside in a way... or at least get to someone who could help him.
Slowly the boy would just look back and forth. From the dark shaded edge of the school building, to the shining sunny day of the street.
