"B-b-baton twirlers?" stammered Phil.
"Ah, yes! That sounds like a marvelous idea," replied Ms. Cord. So, without further ado, Kendra introduced Phil to the Heatherettes.
Each of the girls was dressed in a black sleeveless leotard, decorated with sequins. And, each one wore her hair in a bun. But, while ten of them marched with white go-go boots on their feet, their captain and feature twirler (a very pretty carrot-top, with bluish-green eyes) wore tan moccasins to give her traction for her aerobatic routines.
Kendra made the introductions.
"Phil Tiny? Meet Hope Granger. Phil just transferred here. And, he wants to be part of the band. But, he's too small to play any instrument! Could you let him be an honorary member of the Heatherettes?"
Hope, who'd been gazing at Phil with a fascinated half-smile, looked at the rest of the squad.
"What do you say, girls? Yes or no?"
They all nodded so fast and energetically, Kendra was surprised they didn't get whiplash!
Phil gulped, wondering what they would do to him.
