"Band practice???" echoed Kendra, in disbelief.
"Yeah!" he replied, a proud grin on his face: "I get to play the triangle. You know; like in Christmas concert performances of 'Little Drummer Boy?'"
"This I've got to see," she replied, temporarily forgetting her original plan.
Five minutes later, Kendra was introducing Phil to Octavia Cord, the school's chief music teacher and band leader.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Philip."
"Thank you, Ms. Cord. I can't wait to get started. Where's the triangle?"
Ms. Cord frowned somewhat: "I'm afraid we'll have to find something else for you to do, in the band. We've had to loan our triangle to the head of the Math Department, for his geometry class."
Kendra's mischievous smile, at Phil's shocked expression, became a full-fledged, toothily evil grin when she saw what was going on outside the bandroom windows.
"Ms. Cord? Why not..."
