Ichigo looks down towards an approaching pool of strange liquid, emitting slight steam before he’s submerged and descends to the bottom of the cup. He tries desperately to climb to the top and endure the heat of the tea as the figure of a woman with glasses slowly crystallizes into view as he swims to the surface.
A tiny *plop* went unnoticed by the Shinigami Women’s Association meeting, presided over by Nanao Ise. Her hand resting on her cup of tea out of habit; she continues to address the few members that bothered to show up which causes a frown of disappointment at the lack of manners now demonstrated by the absent members. White glares of light reflect off her glasses as her eye brow slightly twitches in annoyance after witnessing the bored and inattentive expressions of her audience trying not to fall asleep at the table. The snoring of one Yachiru Kusajishi was particularly audible and presented an obstacle to breaking Nanao’s concentration during speeches.
“Why is Yachiru still the president of this club…?” Nanao ignores the thought as she continues to report facts to the group as though she were a news anchor woman after pushing her glasses up. “Reports of random shrinking in male subjects of both Human and Soul Reaper have become more prevalent. The reason for these cases remains unknown at this time, but we’ve learned…this strange condition has also affected and is most common in Hollows…which has made them somewhat…less intelligent…” Seven tiny hollows appear buzzing above Nanao Ise’s head like annoying flies as they attempt to terrify her.
With one calculated motion, Nanao’s hand lifts and swats all seven hollows into oblivion, effectively administering the killing blow with one swipe. The small group of members suddenly sits up in their chairs and look on with interest at the act of skill demonstrated by Nanao and each member holds up a small card with the number “10” displayed as though they were judging the act.
Ichigo gulps and considers climbing out of the tea cup to gain the attention of someone else. He was happy to learn that he wasn’t the only case and a sense of hope filled him at the idea of Nanao being able to understand his situation, but after witnessing her swatting of the hollows without so much as a look to determine if they were truly hollows or not, maybe gaining Nanao’s attention wouldn’t be a smart move. Maybe Soi Fon was behind all the shrinking and Nanao was in on the plot, it’s safer not to take the chance…just as Ichigo attempted to reach for the wall of the inside of the cup, a sudden violent shaking and a wave of tea push him against the side.
“Any questions?” Nanao asks coldly while lifting her cup of tea in a sign of disapproval of the members conduct thus far. Nanao looks down at her tea as she lifts it to her mouth.
