The mall's fluorescent lights flickered overhead as his sneakers scuffed against the polished tiles. He dragged behind his mom and sister like a child who had just been handed a homework assignment he'd rather die than finish. Around him was a blur of shopping bags, chattering teens, and racks of pastel-colored blouses. He had barely made it through the door before Olivia had yanked him into yet another boutique, like some prized accessory that, according to her, "needed a refresh."
"James! Come on, just pick something already," Olivia huffed, flicking her curly blonde hair over her shoulder as she twirled on her heels. She was practically swimming in a sea of pink fabrics, none of them quite large enough to contain her over-the-top diva energy. She held up a neon pink crop top that looked more like a napkin than a shirt.
"Ooh, this would look so cute on me! But like, you wouldn't get it. You're... just a dumb guy."
James rolled his eyes, trying to ignore the growing ache in his temples. “Yeah, no kidding. I’m not here to shop for you, Olivia.”
“Ugh, you’re such a downer,” she pouted, hands on her hips. The slightest quiver in her bottom lip suggested she was about two seconds away from some kind of outburst, about to transform him into something again. but for once, he didn’t care. He had seen it all before. Olivia's moods flipped faster than a light switch, and when she was in a mood like this, anything was possible.
Brittany, his mom, glided over to him, her steps light, her eyes bright with enthusiasm. "Honey, you’re so quiet today. You could at least try to have a little fun. Look, I got a few things to try on!” she grinned, holding up a string of sequins. "Isn't it adorable?" James just nodded absently, his gaze already drifting elsewhere. Olivia's voice shrieked behind him, but he ignored it.
His attention was caught by a woman in the next aisle, her back to him as she perused some shirts. James didn’t mean to—he wasn’t even looking at her like that. But she was leaning over the rack, and something about the way the fabric stretched over her chest caught his eye. Mistake. Olivia’s head snapped in his direction, eyes narrowing in fury. "James! I swear, if you look at one more boob, I will turn you into a toad!" James’s face flushed bright red. “I—” “I’m serious!” Olivia snapped, and her words crackled with an unnerving intensity, like the hum of a storm cloud ready to burst. “If you ogle one more girl, I swear I’ll transform you into something really embarrassing.”
Brittany, for all her sweetness and sparkle, barely registered her daughter's threat. She was busy rummaging through a row of shirts, her attention on a pale blue blouse she thought would look cute with her new white pants. "Oh, honey, don't take it too seriously. Olivia's just being dramatic as usual." But Olivia wasn’t having it. "Oh no, this time? This time, he’s going down," she growled. "You think you can get away with that, James? Think again." James swallowed hard, doing his best to avoid eye contact with his sister. He’d seen her powers in action before, and the last thing he wanted was to be turned into anything she deemed worthy of her twisted little temper tantrum. is sister’s transformations were always... unpredictable. One second, he could be a chair, the next a golden retriever. Spacing out, his gaze landed on the unknown woman's chest again... And Olivia noticed.
"Alright," Olivia snapped her fingers, her face twisted with a manic smile. "You wanted to look, now you are gonna look." James's breath caught in his throat as he felt a strange, liquid sensation surge through his body. He barely had time to register the feeling before it hit him: he was shrinking. His hands twisted and contorted, transforming into little blobs of squishy... pearls? Before he could shout or protest, his body felt a familiar sinking sensation. His feet were no longer touching the floor. He was no longer even able to scream. There was a thick, gelatinous substance pressing around him. Then, with an almost playful hum, the transformation was complete. Brittany froze, a bottle of boba tea in her hands. She blinked a few times before looking down at her drink, noticing the faint shifting movement of the pearls inside. For a moment, she stood there, utterly confused. "Wait, what—what happened?" she asked, her voice soft but tinged with surprise.
Olivia was grinning with that manic satisfaction only a teenager with godlike powers could muster. "I told him not to look at other girls’ boobs!" she sang, practically glowing with glee. “Now he's inside your boba Mom. How's that for punishment?” James, now transformed into the drink, tried to scream inside his new liquid form, but all that came out was a soft bubble-like gurgle. He could barely feel his limbs anymore, just the dizzying sensation of being suspended in the thick liquid.
Brittany, after a beat of stunned silence, raised the cup to her lips and smiled. “Well, you know, I was getting a little thirsty anyway,” she remarked as she took a slow sip, the sensation of his form swirling around inside her mouth. James’s stomach churned in horror as he was sucked up through the straw, his mind scrambling to make sense of the ludicrous situation. Brittany, tasting the drink, closed her eyes in pleasurable surprise.
“Mmm. Wow, this is... actually really refreshing! Who knew boba could taste this good?” She peered down into the cup again, as if considering a second sip. "It's a unique flavor, but I think I’m getting the hang of it. What about you, honey?" she asked, oblivious to the sheer absurdity of the situation. Olivia leaned over, peering at her mom with an almost maternal pride. “Isn’t it so fun, Mom? He’s, like, in there now. All nice and squishy. You could just slurp him up whenever you want.” She giggled at the image, her high-pitched laugh ringing through the boutique like some manic, off-key chime.
Brittany gave her daughter a sideways glance, pausing her sipping for a moment. "Hmm. Maybe we should give him a bit of time to adjust. We don’t want to go too fast...” James’s panic was now coupled with pure frustration. How had he gone from being an annoyed teenager, stuck at the mall, to being trapped inside a drink his mom was casually sipping like some weird, twisted snack? Brittany’s voice continued to hum in his ears, a steady reminder of just how out of control his life had become. But now, at this moment, it wasn’t just Olivia he had to worry about. It was his mom—who was happily slurping away at his literal existence.
"Hey, dear," Brittany suddenly said, twirling the boba cup in her hand, the straw still pressed to her lips. “You wouldn’t mind if I drank a little more of you, right? Just to finish off my treat?” James, helpless in his bubbly prison, could only imagine the mischievous grin spreading across her face as she brought the cup closer to her mouth. His mom’s eyes sparkled as she took another long, deliberate sip, swirling the liquid in her mouth with the sort of pleasure most people reserved for their favorite wine. The sensation of the tiny pearl, of James—or what remained of him—was an odd mix of familiar and bizarre, as if she were drinking a decadent treat while unknowingly indulging in a secret. “Oh my gosh, this is actually amazing,” she murmured between sips, her lips curling in satisfaction. She leaned back against the counter of the boutique, taking another slow, almost sensual draw through the straw, savoring the texture of her son the boba. It was as though the drink had been specially crafted to her taste, and the surprising, delicious sweetness that surged in each swallow only heightened her enjoyment.
Olivia was practically bouncing on the balls of her feet, watching her mom with wide, unblinking eyes, waiting for her to finish the next sip. "Right? Told ya! I knew you'd love it." She clapped her hands together, the kind of joy only a mischievous witch could find in such a twisted situation. “Isn't it amazing? you’re drinking him!” Her voice hitched up a notch in pure glee. "I made him your drink. That’s just so cool!"
Brittany grinned, a playful laugh escaping her lips. "Honestly, I can’t believe I’m enjoying this as much as I am. It’s just... so refreshing!" Her eyes lingered on the cup, and for a brief moment, she seemed to consider the bizarre but oddly delightful sensation of sipping her son in this form. She wiggled the straw a little, feeling the small pearls move slightly as she drew in more liquid. Her face flushed with a quiet joy, a wicked little secret between her and the drink she was savoring.
“James, dear” she called out sweetly, as if he could hear her through the boba, “you really did make an excellent treat.” She smacked her lips as if considering a second helping. “You taste so good—I think you’ve been transformed into the perfect snack.” Each time Brittany slurped at the straw, his form was gently drawn into her mouth, the warm, soft cavity of her tongue swirling him around before sending him back into the cool liquid. Her slow, indulgent movements were like a cruel kind of torture, as if he were caught in an endless loop of helplessness, unable to escape her lips
Brittany took another satisfying sip, savoring the drink a little more. “Mmm, it’s so creamy and sweet... You really did a great job with this one, Olivia,” she said with a wink, her tone almost approving. She shifted the cup a little, as if considering just how much more she could drink before feeling guilty.
Olivia grinned, popping a bubble from her gum and flashing her mom a bright, teasing smile. "Told ya! Like, I can’t not be good at making stuff like this. You just gotta know how to envision it, you know?" She then cocked her head, a wicked gleam entering her eyes as she glanced at her brother—no, her brother’s remnants, still slowly swirling in the liquid. For a moment, there was a pause—Brittany wasn’t sure if it was her own hesitance or a sign from the universe telling her maybe she’d had enough. But she wasn’t quite ready to stop, not yet. The drink, after all, had become something entirely different now, more of a wicked indulgence than a casual beverage.
“Maybe a little more,” she whispered to herself, as though confirming the decision to indulge further. She tilted the cup back again, the straw snaking up to her lips as she took another drawn-out sip, relishing the strange, bizarre sensation of being connected to her son in this unorthodox, ridiculous way.
Olivia watched eagerly, her body shifting back and forth like she couldn’t wait to see how far her mom would take this. "Come on, Mom! Don’t hold back. You earned it."
She took another sip, this one longer, savoring the sensation as she imagined that tiny, helpless pearl—the last remaining piece of her son—dissolving into the drink, becoming a mere aftertaste in her mouth. The liquid swirled with a sense of finality, the remaining pearls slowly sinking as Brittany tilted the cup slightly to catch every drop. "Mmm," she murmured, pressing the straw against her lips once more, satisfied.
She gazed into the cup, which had only a small amount of liquid in it now. “I... I think I’m done now.”
“Mom,” Olivia began, her voice sing-songy yet laced with a quiet urgency, “don’t, like, drink all of it. You know, you should save, like, a little bit for later. Trust me.” Brittany paused, the straw hovering at her lips as she hesitated for the briefest moment. Her eyes flitted to the empty space inside the cup where her son—well, what was left of him—had been just moments ago. The swirl of sweetness had taken over, and she felt that warm, contented buzz filling her, the bizarre, borderline indulgent sensation of sipping something—someone—who had once been her son. But Olivia’s warning lingered in her mind like a little whisper, tugging at her instincts.
“Huh...” Brittany murmured thoughtfully, letting the straw rest against her lips as her fingers tightened around the cool plastic of the cup. “I guess... I guess I should stop, right? You did say so.” Her fingers twitched almost reflexively toward the straw again, the temptation there, that sweet, sugary pull. Just one more sip, just a little bit more, she thought, and the thought was so deliciously tempting she could hardly resist. The drink was so smooth, so refreshing. Her tongue curled at the memory of that strange but somehow comforting sweetness. Olivia, sensing the internal tug-of-war taking place in her mom’s head, leaned in closer, her voice turning a little more serious. “Mom! I mean it! You’ve already got, like, enough of him in there. You really shouldn’t drink it all, or it could get... bad. He might, like, not come back, you know? He might just—poof—disappear forever.”
Brittany's eyes flickered with that half-smile of playful rebellion, a slight dancing in her gaze. “But... don’t you think it’d be kinda funny?” she asked softly, still holding the cup to her lips. “Like, if I did drink it all? I mean... who else gets to say they drank their son, right?” Olivia narrowed her eyes, a slightly ominous shift in her demeanor as she planted her hands on her hips. “Seriously, Mom,” she warned, her tone now more serious, even a little bit too blunt for comfort. “You’ve had your fun. I’m, like, really not sure what would happen if you drank every last drop. You might end up... well, with nothing left.”
Brittany chuckled at the suggestion, but there was a hint of uncertainty creeping in as she glanced down at the boba cup. The playful edge in her smile was still there, but her fingers hesitated, uncertain, betraying her growing reluctance. “I don’t want him to disappear forever,” she said, almost to herself. She glanced at her daughter, who stood staring back at her, an expression that was a strange mixture of amusement and genuine concern.
The playful mood had shifted. Olivia’s tone softened, but her eyes were still intense, her voice carrying an unspoken warning. “Look, it’s not a joke, Mom. He’s really almost nothing left small now. And if you drink it all... well, I don’t know what’s gonna happen to him. I’m just saying... don’t get too greedy.”
Brittany chuckled lightly, her fingers still tracing the edge of the cup. "I don’t know... it was really good, Olivia. Like, really good." She gave her daughter a teasing glance. "Maybe I’ll make this a regular thing, huh? A little... treat every now and then." Olivia groaned, rolling her eyes with an exaggerated sigh. "Mom, I swear, you’re such a weirdo sometimes." But there was a glimmer of laughter in her voice as she turned away to browse the rack of shirts again. "Just don’t make it too regular, or he might never come back to normal. Or worse, he might like it in there. Which would be totally gross."
I feel bad for the son. His mom Doesn't give a shit about his life
Not bad, though I think more description from the son's perspective would help.
