The dire situation continued to eat at Blake - as if Claire had not already eaten at him enough. Every minuscule motion from his mother's surrounding form felt like it rumbled through him, shaking and rattling his very essence. Even without her trying, it was like a thousand pinpricks at the little shapeless lump he called a body.

"If - if you can absorb my memories, what else? My - personality? Learn my spells? Every little thing making me up? When do I end, and where do you begin, mom--?"

She pinched his spot slightly, making a tidal wave of pain shoot through the trickling droplets of agony he'd been experiencing before. "I didn't raise a philosopher. You're just going to bring my pains back at this rate, pill."

"I'm not a pill!" Blake squealed back, pounding what passed for his arms against the membrane of flesh. "I'm a person! Not a pill!" His voice increased to a yell.

Claire sighed. "They're going to hear you at this rate... Either way, I don't want to hear you."

Her body stretched backwards - saluting the sun, arms spreading like she was holding a large yoga ball. The motion was noticeable for anyone watching from a distance; but subtle enough that it only barely resulted in a little heat around Blake.

He tried to ask, "why did you do that?" - but it came out as "Mhm mmht mhnhm n?"

Blake then struggled to put a shaking, spectral hand to his mouth - there was nothing there. His mouth had completely dissolved.

He banged again, with a raw, throat-curdling "BWNGH! NHHHG!" Nothing came out. It felt wet, and empty.

Claire nodded. "You understand, right? Maybe if you quiet down with that squealing, I'll find some spell to return your mouth to normal."

There was no spell to return someone's mouth to normal. And Blake had no way to communicate that. He was locked in - left with no form of communication. Very little chance he'd even be able to use sign language...

A finger tapped on him. "Okay. Mumble once for no, twice for yes. Understand?"

A hard tap. "Mph mph!" He murmured out of instinct.

"Do you want out?"

"MPH! MPH!"

"Do you think you deserve this?"

"Mph..."

"I'll think it through, once you've done making my stomach feel better..."
