"You can stay at my place while I'm at work!" Emma tried not to look too proud of her idea.

You, on the other hand, were less impressed. "Emma... doesn't that just leave me in the same predicament? I'd still be tiny, I'd still be home alone, it would just be... your home."

"Well I can't take you to work with me! Way too dangerous!"

You still needed convincing. Then, you realised you didn't know what Emma did for a living. How dangerous can it be? "Where do you work, exactly?"

"I'm a waitress. Why?"

You pictured yourself tucked in the pocket of an apron. Pictured yourself falling into a customer's dinner. On the counter of a busy kitchen. Under a table. Under a shoe. You shook your head, as if to physically fling these thoughts away.

"Okay, yeah. Probably best I stay..."

Emma carried you across the hall to her apartment. It wasn't a long journey. She set you down on the floor of her living room and excused herself to get ready for work. Her bedroom door was closed, but you free reign of the rest of the apartment. The space was practically identical to your apartment, which you figured wasn't all that surprising. Still, it was fascinating to see how two identical apartments can look so different; Emma's decor was distinctly feminine compared to yours; potted plants on the window sills, various cushions on the couch, framed photos of family members on every wall. Her apartment was also more cluttered and lived in than yours - you'd be inclined to say it felt smaller than your place if it wasn't for the obvious...

You opted to stay relatively close to where Emma left you. There was no telling when she'd emerge from her bedroom, and you'd had your fill of running from oblivious giant women for one day.

Finally, her bedroom door opened and she stepped out, carefully inspecting the floor before taking a step. She was wearing her uniform; a yellow blouse with a name badge pinned to it. You recalled seeing her wearing this many times in the past, but it never occurred to you that this was a uniform - you always thought she just liked that blouse.

"How do I look?" she said playfully on seeing you, spinning around in place to give you a full view.

You looked her up and down as she turned, your gaze momentarily fixating on her behind. "You look nice." you answered honestly.

Emma waved a dismissive hand at you. "Oh, you!" she giggled, "You should be careful - I might get used to having a pet man who pays me compliments whenever I ask for them."

Her use of the word 'pet' was troubling, but you couldn't help but blush at her forwardness. Was she flirting with you, or just kidding?

Emma walked by you, her feet soaring past at incredible speed, to retrieve her keys, coat and shoes. "I'm only working a half day today," she said as she wriggled her feet into her sneakers. "So I should be home at... 1? Maybe 1:30?"

You looked at the clock. Five hours from now.

"I'll make you some lunch when I get back. For water, I placed a dish on the floor in the kitchen. It's not overly dignified, I know, but its the best I can do on short notice. If you need the bathroom, then..." she looked around the apartment with a troubled expression. She hadn't thought this far ahead. "...try to hold it?" she looked at you apologetically. You looked back with equal measure incredulity; was she really going to make you hold it in, wait for her return like a well-trained pet?!

Emma relented with a sigh. "Okay, if you really have to go, I'll leave some toilet paper on the floor in the bathroom. Tear off a few sheets and go on that."

You nodded. "Got it. Have a good day at work, I guess..."

Emma smiled. The absurdity of the situation still hasn't worn off yet.

"Oh, also!" Emma called back before leaving. "If you get bored, feel free to give the place a spruce up! At your size, you'll be able to get into all sorts of nooks that get missed when I clean!"

And with that, she was gone.
