Noticed by the Neighbour

Your continued attempts to flag down your neighbour as she stomped around your apartment finally yielded results. She stopped in her tracks and cocked her head. She then turned and looked around, confused.

“…Alex?” She eventually called back.

You called out once again and this time she looked down. You stared back at her, utterly terrified. It was one thing to go unnoticed by a giant, avoiding her thoughtless, heavy footsteps, but it was a whole new sense of dread to be known. From this point, you no longer had a say in what happens next; it was your choice to call to Emma in your moment of need, but she was bigger than you, faster, stronger. Whatever she wants to do with you, wherever she wants to take you, was ultimately her choice. You felt your agency being torn away the moment you fell under her gaze.

You hoped she would do the right thing.

“Alex..?” she said again, quieter. She got on her hands and knees and crawled closer to you, her face soon becoming the only thing you could see. “How..?”

Her breath was hot and smelled of coffee. You hid your grimace as best you could before answering. “Yeah, it’s me. I… I don’t know what to say… I guess I need help.”
