Treading water in the vast, soapy basin, you feel a sense of accomplishment. You survived the fall, and now you can finally wash off the grime and stress of the morning. You scoop up a handful of bubbles, each one a fragile, iridescent sphere larger than your head, and begin to scrub your arms and chest. The soap is slippery, but you work with determined vigor, feeling the grit of dust and the lingering stickiness of Becky's sweat dissolve away.
Suddenly, a low groaning sound echoes from above, not from your mother, but from the house itself. The floorboards of the kitchen tremble slightly. You look up to see Lauren's face contorted in a brief, uncomfortable expression. She presses a hand against her lower belly, the silk of her robe pulling taut across her curvaceous hip.
"Oh, excuse me, sweetheart," she says, her voice strained. "All that coffee... nature calls."
She turns away from the sink, her movements hurried. Her colossal form strides across the kitchen, each footstep a minor earthquake that sends ripples across your watery domain. You watch as she disappears through a doorway down the hall, the sound of another door closing echoing moments later.
Silence descends, broken only by the gentle lapping of the water against the porcelain sides of the sink. You are alone.
The relief of solitude is immediate.
The silence is profound. In the sudden absence of your mother's presence, the mundane sounds of the kitchen become a roaring symphony. The low, constant hum of the refrigerator is a mechanical beast lurking in the distance. The drip of a leaky tap somewhere else in the house is like the steady beat of a war drum, each drop sending a tiny ripple across your personal sea.
You continue washing, the task now imbued with a strange sense of independence. Here you are, a one-millimeter-tall man, bathing in a porcelain basin, a titaness's bladder dictating your freedom. The irony isn't lost on you.
As you scrub, you notice the water level seems to be dropping. Very slowly, almost imperceptibly, the shoreline of the soapy lake is receding. You paddle over to the edge of the sink, near the drain. A tiny vortex is forming, a swirling whirlpool that threatens to pull you under. The drain stopper must not be seated perfectly, allowing a minuscule trickle of water to escape.
To you, however, it's not a trickle. It's a powerful current, growing stronger by the second. The water funnels downwards, creating a small but rapidly increasing cyclone. Bubbles and stray flecks of soap are sucked into its depths, disappearing into the dark abyss of the plumbing.
You are in the center of the sink, but the pull is undeniable!!
