Katarina studied her daughter for a long, heavy moment. The golden eyes that ran half of Moscow’s underworld flicked between Ursa’s cold, impassive face and the faint shifting of her hips as she ground down on the tiny captive sealed inside her.

Then, slowly, the corners of her blood-red mouth curved upward again.

Very impressive,” she said at last. The word landed like a verdict. “He is broken. Completely. I can see it in his eyes. He believes every word.” She gave a single, approving nod. “Perhaps this place has not made you as soft as I feared.”

Ursa kept her expression perfectly still. This was the old mask, the one she had worn like armor in Yakutsk. Inside her, Max lay crushed in hot, reeking darkness. He still tasted the ghost of her foot sweat and felt every tiny tremor of tension that ran through her colossal frame.

Katarina rose, white fur coat gliding around her powerful legs.

“I have reconsidered,” she announced. “There is no need to bring you home. Not yet.” She glanced at Katya, who looked faintly disappointed. “Your sister and I will return home tomorrow morning. This visit has already pulled me away from important matters that require my personal attention. I trust you will not waste the reprieve I am giving you.”

Ursa’s ice-blue eyes widened for a second before she forced them back under control. “Da, Mama.”

Katarina stepped closer. For one terrible heartbeat, Max thought she might reach for him again, but she only studied her daughter’s face one last time.

“Do not disappoint me, Ursula,” she said quietly. Then, louder: “We are finished here. You may go.”

Ursa dipped her head in the smallest of bows—the closest thing to respect she could manage without breaking character. “Dosvidaniya, Mama. Katya.”

Katya’s silver fangs flashed as she blew her little sister a mocking kiss. “Try not to get too attached to your new toy, little bear. If you keep treating him like that, it’s only a matter of time before he breaks.”

Ursa said nothing. She simply turned, smoothed the back of her too-tight dress over the shelf of her ass, and walked out of the suite with her head high and her spine straight. Only Max, sealed deep inside her, could feel the way her hands were shaking.

The ride back to campus was silent except for the low thrum of the town car’s engine and the occasional soft, wet sound of Ursa shifting in her seat.

Arkady kept his eyes fixed on the road, knuckles white on the steering wheel. He had clearly learned long ago that looking in the rearview mirror during family matters was a fast way to end up with a face full of Kolossovna ass.

Ursa sat rigid in the back, one massive thigh crossed over the other. The motion ground Max deeper into the hot, slimy grip of her rectum. She didn’t speak or reach back, simply enduring the drive as she had endured her mother’s scrutiny, letting the pressure and heat and stink of her own body serve as both prison and shield for the tiny freshman she had sworn to protect.

Max lost track of time. There was only the rhythmic clench of muscle and the thick, earthy reek of her post-brunch gas lingering in the humid darkness. Every bump in the road jostled him, and every time she moved, he felt the walls of her ass ripple and squeeze around him like a living fist. The distant, muffled sound of her breathing was steady and controlled, but just a little too fast.

At one point she let out a long, low, rumbling fart. It vibrated straight through her guts into his trapped body. Hot and wet, it carried the unmistakable tang of stress-digested protein and expensive Russian brunch. Max coughed against her pucker, kissing it again in the desperate, worshipful way he had performed for her family. The taste made his eyes water, but he kept kissing anyway.

Ursa’s only reaction was a tiny, almost inaudible sigh.

When the car finally pulled up in front of House Diana, Ursa climbed out without a word to Arkady—the same total lack of acknowledgment she’d given him at home. She walked straight through the common room, past a few curious housemates wise enough to step aside, and made a beeline for her suite. The moment the door clicked shut and both locks were thrown, the mask shattered.

She crossed the room in three long strides and yanked the front of her dress up. She hooked two thick fingers into the sweaty cleft of her ass and carefully—very carefully—eased Max out.

He came free with a soft, wet sound, glistening with sweat and residue. Blinking in the sudden blast of arctic air conditioning, Max found himself cradled in both her palms. Above him, Ursa’s ice-blue eyes were wide and stricken. Then her face crumpled.

“Apology,” she whispered. The word cracked in the middle. “Max… I am so sorry.”

She carried him to the desk and set him down gently on a folded pink handkerchief, then dropped into her hot-pink swivel stool like her legs had given out. Her short platinum hair was a mess. Her lipstick was smudged. She looked nothing like the cold, cruel amazon who had just performed for her mother.

“I made you do that,” she said, voice thick. “I made you… kiss me like that. In front of them. I made you say those things. I made you smell my foot. My ass. I—” She swallowed hard, eyes shining. “I treated you like the old me would have treated you. I hated every second of it.”

Max stared up at her, still dazed from the long confinement and the intensity of the performance. “Ursa…”

“No.” She shook her head, a single tear sliding down her cheek, jaw clenched tight, voice trembling. “Do not make it easy for me. I need you to understand. That was not me. Not anymore. I am trying so hard to be better than that. And today I had to become her again, just for a little while, because if I did not… They would have taken you from me and I—” Her voice broke, breath hitching. “I could not let that happen.”

She reached out with one enormous finger and very gently brushed a strand of sweat-damp hair from his forehead.

“I promise you,” she said, her words heavy with feeling. “I will never treat you like that again. Not even if they come back. You are not my toy or my pet. You are…” She hesitated, cheeks flushing red beneath the smeared makeup. “Someone I care about. Someone I want to keep safe. Someone I—” She stopped, the rest of the sentence dying on her tongue.

Max looked up at the towering, trembling amazon who had just spent the last hour crushing him inside her body to protect him from her own family. His chest felt tight in a way that had nothing to do with pressure or stink.

“I know,” he said quietly. “I know it was an act. I could tell. You… you winked at me. Once.”

Ursa let out a shaky, watery laugh. “You noticed that?”

“Yeah.” He managed a small, crooked smile. “It helped.”

She exhaled, long and slow, some of the terrible tension leaving her massive shoulders. For a moment she just sat there, looking at him like she was seeing him for the first time all over again.

Then she leaned down, very carefully, and pressed the softest, gentlest kiss to the top of his head—nothing like the performance kisses from earlier. This one was warm. Careful. Real.

“Thank you,” she murmured against his hair. “For… everything.”

She sat back, wiping her eyes with the back of one huge hand, and gave him a small, lopsided smile that was pure Ursa—the real one.

“Now,” she said, still a little rough but steadier, “I think we have both had enough of my family for one lifetime. What do you say we stay in tonight? We can watch whatever you want. Even… anime.” She wrinkled her nose in exaggerated distaste, but her eyes were soft. “If you are very good.”

Max laughed despite himself. “You’re really gonna let me pick?”

“Da.” She reached out and very carefully scooped him up again, cradling him against the warm, soft swell of her chest—this time over the dress, not under it. “You have earned it, miniatyurnyy. After today… you have earned anything you want.”

She carried him over to the bed and settled down with him still held close, the cold air from the window units washing over both of them. For the first time in hours, Max could breathe without tasting her.

Ursa looked down at him, expression open and vulnerable in a way he had never seen before.

“I meant what I said,” she told him quietly. “I will never treat you like that again. You have my word.”

Max nestled a little deeper into the soft, safe warmth of her cleavage, feeling the steady thump of her heart beneath layers of muscle and softness and the faint, ever-present scent of her that no amount of showers or cold air could ever fully erase.

“I believe you,” he said.

Ursa smiled—small, tired, but real—and reached for the remote.

“Good,” she said. “Now. Tell me again about this… My Hero Academia.”

She made a face, but there was no hiding the fondness underneath.

Max grinned up at her.

Maybe, just maybe, he could get used to this after all.
