The fourth episode of Amor Eterno was still going when Lupe’s phone started buzzing on the side table—blasting a ringtone that Max instantly recognized as a FaceTime request. As usual, she didn’t even bother to look at the screen. She just swiped to answer, like she already knew exactly who was calling.

“¡Hola, mija!” Lupe sang out, voice warm and syrupy as she lifted the phone. The camera framed her round, smiling face and the top half of her pink housecoat, cleavage spilling generously into view. “Just in time. We were just finishing up dinner.”

Victoria’s face took up most of the screen, and Izzy was squished in right next to her, both of them wedged together on the couch back home in Sunnyvale. Victoria looked relieved; Izzy looked like she was already smelling blood in the water.

“Hey, Mamá,” Victoria said. “Just checking in. How’s Max doing? Settling in okay?”

Lupe’s eyes sparkled with pure mischief. “Oh, he’s settling in perfectly, mija. Aren’t you, mijo?”

Max barely had time to panic before Lupe slowly tilted the phone downward. The camera moved past her large chest, over her soft belly, and stopped at the ottoman. She even switched to 2x zoom, just so Victoria and Izzy could get a better look at him—still working on her left foot like his life depended on it.

His hands stopped mid-rub, panic rising as his palms pressed into the hot, sweaty arch. His face burned. He saw his reflection in the preview window: a naked, shrunken figure stuck between two huge brown toes, each as big as a sofa cushion. He looked exactly like what he was—Lupe’s personal, pint-sized foot-slave.

Victoria’s eyes went wide. Then she burst out laughing, the sound crackling through the speaker. “Oh my God, Mom. You already have him back on foot duty?”

Izzy’s laughter was louder—and meaner. “Holy shit, look at him go! Little Maxie’s right back where he belongs—rubbing Abuela’s crusty old feet like it’s his full-time job. Did you even let him eat first, or did you just plop him down the second you got home?”

Lupe let out a low, rolling chuckle. She kept the phone in place, even tilting it a bit more to give the girls a better view. Her toes flexed slowly, curling around his shoulders and pressing his chest into the sticky ball of her foot.

“¡Ay, por favor!” Lupe said, pretending to be scandalized. “He offered, didn’t you, mijo? After rescuing him from all those big, scary college kids, the least he can do is make Abuela’s feet feel better."

Max wished he could sink into the ottoman and disappear. Shame burned in his chest. His ears rang. He felt every bead of sweat on Lupe’s sole and every bit of dried skin under his hands. The smell was strong up close, and now everyone could see it. Victoria and Izzy were watching. He was naked, helpless, and it all felt too familiar.

Victoria wiped a tear from her eye, still giggling. “I can’t believe it. Max, sweetie, blink twice if she’s making you do this against your will.”

Izzy leaned in closer to the camera, grinning like a shark. “Nah, he loves it. Don’t you, lil bro? Bet those big old feet smell even better when you’re tiny. Come on, give us a thumbs-up. Or are your hands too busy worshipping?”

Lupe’s toes gave a playful squeeze, mashing Max’s arms to his sides and nearly toppling him forward into the damp valley between her sole and the ottoman. “He’s a good boy,” she said proudly. “Already remembered exactly how Abuela likes it—nice and deep in the arches, lots of pressure. Just like old times. Isn’t that right, mijo?”

Max’s mouth opened, but nothing came out. His face was on fire. He could see Victoria and Izzy losing it again, both of them howling with laughter as Lupe gave the camera one last teasing wiggle of her toes—dragging the hot, slick skin across his chest like she was showing off a new pet trick.

“Alright, alright,” Victoria finally managed, still chuckling. “Well… I’ve got some good news on my end, too.” She glanced sideways at Izzy, then back at the camera, speaking mostly to Lupe but making sure every word carried loud and clear for Max’s benefit. “I had a long conversation with the president of Ventus this afternoon, and she agreed to pull Max out of school. Full refund on tuition and housing—every penny.”

Izzy snorted, leaning in so her face took up half the screen. “Yeah. Pretty sure that was just Ventus’s way of making sure we didn’t sue their asses off.”

Victoria nodded, her smile softening into something almost maternal. “Exactly. So… if you’re willing to keep taking care of him for a while, Mom, I was thinking we could split the refund. Half for you, half for me. It’s not a fortune, but it’ll help with whatever you need while he’s… staying with you.”

Lupe’s eyebrows shot up, her thumb pausing on the edge of the phone case. The surprise was genuine; she hadn’t expected money to enter the conversation. “¿De veras, mija? Are you sure? I mean… I’m happy to have him, but I don’t want to step on your toes if you—”

Victoria cut her off with a warm laugh. “I’m sure. Izzy and I had a long talk on the drive home. This whole shrinking thing… I think it’s actually the push I’ve been waiting for. I’ve been dying to get back into modeling—real gigs again, not just the occasional catalog stuff. With Max taken care of, I can finally focus on that without worrying about him every five minutes.” She glanced down toward the tiny figure still trapped under Lupe’s sole and added, softer, “And honestly? It looks like he’s in exactly the right hands. Or should I say, under the right feet.”

Lupe’s lips curved into a knowing grin. She gave her toes another lazy flex, grinding Max’s tiny chest deeper into her big, meaty sole. “Ay, mija… I’m not about to look a gift foot masseuse in the mouth.” She winked at the camera.

Beneath her, Max let out a low, involuntary grumble—half protest, half exhausted resignation. The sound was barely audible, but Lupe’s sharp ears caught it instantly. She tilted the phone just enough to catch his flushed, upturned face between her toes.

“¿Y tú, mijo?” she asked, voice sweet but with that unmistakable edge of authority. “Does this deal work for you? Staying here with Abuela, getting spoiled rotten while your Mamá chases her dreams?”

Max’s stomach dropped. Victoria and Izzy were still watching, eyes bright with amusement, fully aware of how quickly Lupe had wrapped him around her finger in less than twenty-four hours. He could see it in their faces—the smug certainty that he was already broken in. If he ran back to them now, they'd have him doing any number of even more humiliating things in no time. At least here, it was a little more safe.

He swallowed hard, voice cracking into a tiny, defeated squeak. “Y-yeah… it works.”

Lupe’s smile widened, warm and triumphant. “Good boy.”

“That’s my Max.” Victoria let out a soft, satisfied sigh. “Well, we’ll let you two get back to… whatever this is. Call us tomorrow, Mom. Love you both.”

“Love you too, mija,” Lupe replied, blowing a kiss at the screen. “Say goodnight to your little brother, Izzy.”

Izzy blew a mocking kiss right back. “Night-night, foot-boy. Don’t forget to lick between the toes.”

Lupe ended the call with a definitive tap, then set the phone down. She looked at Max—still pinned under her foot, cheeks burning, eyes glassy. She gave him the softest, most affectionate smile.

“Everybody wins, eh, mijo?” She murmured, voice warm as ever. “Now… don’t stop. Abuela’s got another episode to watch.”

She wiggled her toes again, inviting him back in. The familiar vinegary heat rolled over him like a blanket. Max swallowed hard, lowered his head, and pressed his hands back into the warm, damp flesh.

Victoria’s and Izzy’s laughter kept echoing in his skull. Max’s face stayed crimson as shame pulsed through him, each rub of Lupe’s foot heightening the sting of their voices. He was theirs now—officially, permanently—and every slow, obedient stroke of his tiny hands against Abuela’s sole only sealed the deal tighter. But somewhere deep inside, the same pathetic little voice from high school whispered that this was safe. Familiar. Home.
