The storm shelter was dank and barren, consisting of nothing more than a bare concrete room, a few plastic folding chairs, a medical kit, and a box filled with bottles of water.
The three looked to one another in discomfort after a few moments of examining the place. "How long do you think before the cops come?" Ian said, wincing as he touched a newly found bruise on his lower arm.
"It shouldn't be much longer, should it?" Elisa said. "There's no way in hell that all the ruckus going on didn't get someone's attention."
"True." Horace said. "Of course, that doesn't do us that much good if the cops are too scared to come by and--"
"Hello down there!"
The English-sounding pony's voice resonated through the door, loud and clear.
"Can you hear me?" the earth pony said, banging against the door a few times. "I'm fairly certain you can hear me!"
Silence.
"Now, then." the earth pony said, sounding rather frustrated now. "If you are going to play it that way, at least have the decency to listen. As our previous actions may have made it clear, we are very much interested in acquiring some more burgers and hay fries and so on. As such, I would like to make it clear that, until you do something to fulfill this desire....we're not going to let you out."
"And how do you imagine that we're going to be able to do anything for you at all?" Horace said, looking at the door. "We can't really do that much locked down here."
"You have cell phones, don't you?" the earth pony said. "And, I should imagine, at least a couple phone numbers to people who could help you."
"We don't have signal." Ian said, making a rude hand gesture at the door. "We're below ground in a tornado shelter, you idiot."
"....Well, then." the earth pony said, his voice suddenly sounding a bit more thoughtful than before. "I suppose that....well, would you excuse me for a moment?"
All noise suddenly faded away, and the shelter was suddenly left utterly silent.
