"Oh hell." Ian said, staring at the crowd of ponies outside, all of whom were glaring through the windows. "What are they doing?"
"How should I know?" Horace said. "I--wait, what's going on?"
All of a sudden, ponies began to be pushed out of the way of one of the front windows--but, instead of the obnoxiously loud unicorn from before, a refined looking gray earth pony with a long brown mane and a black dress suit (more remarkably, a suit that actually fit fairly well over all her bulk) stepped forward.
"Hello there." she said, waving at the three human within the store. "As strange and as unexpected as this may be, I was hoping to see whether you would be willing to negotiate with us."
The three looked to one another. "What's the trick?" Ian said.
"There is no trick." the gray earth pony said, shaking her head at the three. "No trap. Nothing like that. All I want--what WE want--is to calmly and reasonably discus this dilemma."
After a moment's hesitation or two, Horace stepped closer to the front window, where the gray earth pony stood.
"Pleasure to meet you." the earth pony said. "Octavia, at your service."
"Horace." came the reply. "....Now, then, what kind of deal did you have in mind?"
"A fairly simple one." Octavia said. "If you agree to allow us access to your wares, we will cease all overtly overexcited behavior and allow you to work in peace."
"....That's no sort of deal." Horace said. "Even ignoring the fact that it's well past closing time, and that you guys just tried to fucking BREAK IN HERE.....what sort of a deal is, "we'll actually act civilly when we buy fast food from you"? Really?!"
Instead of making some empty promise or some demand that they be let in, Octavia then did something that left Horace and the others speechless for a time; namely, hold up a large bag filled with gold coins.
"It is true that humans highly value gold, yes?" Octavia said, opening the bag enough just to let the coins within appear in view. "Here is my proposal, then; if you agree to sell us your wares, we will not only do with the utmost care and consideration, we will also repair all damages to the restaurant and.....tip well. Interested?"
All of a sudden, ponies in the crowd began to pull out satchels and bags and purses filled with gold bits, and soon there were dozens of hands in the air, holding up vast, vast handfuls of coins in the air. As could be told with only a moment at a glance, there was enough gold on display to make the three of them....well, if not quite rich, at least very, very well off.
Horace glanced back at the other two, both of whom looked, despite their mutual exhaustion and fear....rather excited. "Agree, man! Agree!" Ian said, shaking his fists. "There's no way in hell that we can pass this up!"
Horace looked back to Octavia, a small but very apparent smile on her face. "We'll do it, then."
"Wonderful."
"It'll be awhile before the delivery truck arrived in a couple hours."
"We'll wait."
