Two Months Later...

"CAN'T THIS THING GO ANY FASTER?!!!?"

"ANY FASTER AND IT'S GONNA POP!!! PIPE DOWN!!!!!"

Mikel's hands were clamped around the steering wheel in a vise like grip, despite the fact there wasn't a human for miles as he and Jake blazed through the open countryside at breakneck speeds. He thrust the wheel to the left to swerve around an upturned car laying on the side of the road, rocking the two riders around in the car.

"See anything yet?!"

Jake unbuckled so he could stand over his chair and look out the back window. "Not yet! Should be coming over the hill any minute, now!!!"

"Crap, how long till we're in the tunnel!??!"

"I don't know! We're halfway across Grettsberg, and we're arriving near the red bridge soon, so I'd say about-"

"GET BACK DOWN!!!"

But it was too late for Jake to be warned as Mikel swerved around an unmanned semi with its truck half-destroyed and sitting along the road. The car passed by unscathed, but Jake's legs hit Mikel's face and caused him to turn the wheel again, sending the car over the edge of the road.

...then there was chaos.

The car drove through a thick grove of grass and lurched against the oncoming barrage, sending the entire vehicle over its side and rolling across the ground. Mikel was rocking back and forth in his seat as Jake was flung into the backseat, with a whirlwind of glass, dirt, and everything that happened to be in the car swirling around them.

The car landed on both wheels at the end of its roll, but teetered onto the edge of its wheels until it finally tipped and landed on its side, with the passenger door pointing up. For a long while the car was completely silent, as though both occupants hadn't survived the crash.

...until the door shot open fast enough that it fell of its hinge and clattered onto the ground, with a pair of dirtied hands inside grabbing the opening and pulling himself out. Mikel dizzily managed to climb out of the car and sat onto the edge, miraculously without any injury, and peered inside in search of his friend.

"...Jake? You there?" There was no response. "...oh god, PLEASE tell me he fell out of the car..."

"...ggh...Mikel?"

Mikel gasped at the voice and looked over the backseat to see his friend laying on the grounded window, who like him wasn't hurt, but still shaken from the rush.

"You okay, buddy?"

"Yeah...I'm fine!" Jake grabbed the seat belt to brace himself as he stood back up, clutching his head as the blood started pumping in. "...dude, how are we still alive?"

Mikel didn't answer. He was looking outside, at a spot in the horizon.

"...Mikel?"

Mikel's face barely twitched at Jake's voice as he gazed into the horizon, at a spot of motion miles away from them. It was a colored, moving blob that stood out like some stain on his sight, but as his eyes adjusted over the distance, they were filled with a look of pure dread as he could see...
