Huh. You hadn't found any armor or swords or anything, but you did find... a large, hooded robe. The garment was clearly meant to be warn over your normal clothes, so you put it on.

Next, you picked up the other thing you'd found.

A large, wooden staff. So, you were clearly a mage of some sort- this was the tool of spell
casters everywhere! Much better than a wand or something else, in your opinion.

It also made a decent walking stick.

"Okay... let's see. Stats!" You called out. On cue, a classic 'stat screen' popped up.

The first thing you noticed was the 'skills' portion of the screen. You had two active skills- Arcane shot (which seemed like a pretty basic magic attack- concentrate mana and shoot a small burst of non-elemental energy at something, and another one.

Minor attribute buff. Your other active skill told you that you could cast a short-term enhancement on yourself or other people, boosting a stat of your choice. Strangely, there was another sentence added on to the skill, but it was... corrupted? The words were all fuzzy and you couldn't quite make them out.

There was also a lone passive skill-

Score- It was honest-to-God titled 'Lucky Pervert!' Apparently, you had a massively increased luck stat, a small bonus to finding rare loot anywhere loot could be found, and...

A massively increased chance that something 'lewd' would occur when interacting with any humanoid female!

That was going to be fun messing around with...

Moving on!

*Glossing over this to save space/time.*

Your physical stats were fairly low, which was more or less inline with the canon Shujin Kou. However... you had a crazy high luck stat, and your other nonphysical stats- INT and WIS were surprisingly high! Well, by comparison. Something told you that your stats were still low overall (which made sense, you looked like a level 1 adventurer with no real experience), but it just confirmed that you were definitely a mage of some sort.

*Growl*

Your rumbling stomach alerted you to the fact that now that you were awake, you should probably get something to eat. There was a small amount of coins in your satchel- mostly copper, with a few silver, in a separate compartment of the bag.

Walking out of your room, you saw that your room was one of about a dozen, with a staircase at the end of the hallway that lead upstairs and downstairs. Traveling down the staircase, you passed some more rooms with closed doors (which you ignored, despite your experience as an avid-RPG fan telling you to barge in and steal everything not nailed-down.)

Leaving the living quarters of the inn, you came down to a large common area- part bar and part restaurant.

'Huh... It really does look like the 'quintessential fantasy tavern.' The kind of room that could be seen in pretty much any fantasy anime ever. This wasn't a guild building, though. So if you wanted to take a job or something, you'd probably have to look for a guild building elsewhere in the city.

Of course, you absolutely knew you'd find a building like that somewhere (hell, there was probably a lot more than one, given that this city looked to be fairly good-sized.) Guild halls were a staple of fantasy anime, just like taverns were, and more importantly...

Busty secretary women. THAT was another staple you couldn't wait to see come to life in front of you.

"Hiya, cutie! Lookin' for something to eat? Just give me a second!"

Blinking, you turned around at the jolly voice behind you.

Whoops, you'd been so lost in thought that you hadn't even noticed that you weren't alone in the inn!

There was a lone girl- well, woman, really- cleaning a glass mug with a rag. You were still the same 16 old Shujin was in canon, and this woman was... maybe 4 or 5 years older than you? Early 20s for sure, but no older than that. Average height- maybe the same height as you, though Shujin Kou wasn't a tall person to begin with- but very noticeable!

The first thing you noticed, predictably, was the boobs. Huge, plump mounds straining the low-cut, laced-up corset-style bodice the young woman was positively filling up. The rest of her was equally attractive- she had a very long ponytail that was, in the light of the inn, either honey blonde or very light brown. Her naturally sweet face combined wonderfully with the charming amethyst eyes sparkling at you.

Rather than being dressed in, well... a 'stock' tavern girl dress, her bodice left a decent amount of her midriff (including her belly button) exposed, close-fitting, wine-red pants, and an odd purple jacket trimmed with white fur.

Damn. This lovely lady wasn't at Izumi's level in terms of cup-size (in fact, Izumi still over-shadowed this new gal by a wide margin- but putting the brown-haired woman next to the line-up of Harem Protagonist characters easily put her in the top 3 for bust measurements.

"Yoo-hoo, mister? It's rude to stare, you know..."

"S-sorry! Was just... lost in thought!"

"Suuuure you were..." Fortunately, the woman's voice sounded to be teasing, rather than angry.

"Uh... you mentioned food. What's available?"

Not even two minutes later, you were sitting down enjoying a small half-loaf of fresh-baked bread alongside a steaming plate of... well, they looked like scrambled eggs, but they might've been named something different in this world.

"Sorry~ I'm not really one for cooking! If the inn keeper was here, she could do a better job! But she won't be back till later. She's been out for the last few days, and I've been holding the fort for her."

You just shrugged off the barmaid's words. The food was simple but tasty, which was more than enough for you.

"How much?"

"What, for the food? Uh... you paid up for room and board last night, remember? You're paid up for the next two days."

"Oh, right, my bad." The woman just stared at you for a second before turning back to her duties. Well, that was one less thing to worry about. You'd probably need all the money you could get right now, and what you had didn't look like much.

Well, at least now you had some more time to yourself to think.

Better jump right into it. There was something you'd been meaning to figure out.

'Log.'

Nothing.

Uh...

'System.'

Nothing.

Finally...

'Journal.'

*Vwoop*

A familiar blue screen popped up in front of you.

((((Welcome to your new life! You are now a resident of the world of XXXXX, a young adventurer seeking fame, fortune, and of course- Romance! Level up, learn skills, and go on adventures to become the hero you've always wanted to be! But first... everyone starts small- no exceptions for you! You're a rookie level 1 adventurer just setting out, and before you can go off fighting dragons, saving princesses, and slaying demon lords, you have to master the basics, so that you don't screw up like a scrub and go die in a ditch!)))

Typical narrator. Interestingly, though, it didn't seem like he was directly talking at you- rather, it seemed that in this universe, the Narrator WAS your quest log, rather than a voice in the back of your head.

<<<Main Quest 1: Baby Steps: Pass the beginner mage's exam to get certified as a registered adventurer. Location: Guild Headquarters on Queen's Road, city of Summervale.>>>

Well...

That seemed like a logical way to start your adventure. If this was like any of the anime you'd ever watched, then you'd probably need to be registered as an adventurer to, you know, explore dungeons and whatnot.

Hmm...

The urge to dash straight over was tempting- why not get the first 'prologue quest' done as soon as possible?

But...

Most RPGs taught you that it was usually better to 'level up' as much as possible before doing main quests. Especially ones where you could permanently miss out on side-content by advancing too quickly through the main questline.

Did you have any side quests listed in your journal?

------------------
1) Nope! Might as well head over to Queen's Road where the Guild is located. Time to ace that test!
2) Yep! Your journal has another entry: <<<Shujin's First Party: Respond to the note you found in the end about a pair of wannabe adventurers (warrior and a thief) looking for a mage to form a party with.>>>
2) Yep! There is another entry: <<<Home is where the hearth is: The innkeeper of the Waystone Inn will be returning sooner than expected. Boost your reputation in this part of the city by helping her with some simple tasks.
