You reluctantly followed the queue of students to your next class.

The Narrator had gone radio silent shortly after his ominous parting words and you were feeling a little twitchy cause of it. So, you were quite wary when you found yourself shuffled into a gymnasium size room instead of the typical classroom. That bad feeling in your gut only grew as looked around, seeing everything inside was padded down from the floor to the ceiling. Circles of various sizes were painted onto the floor, scattered across the entire gymnasium.

This wasn't in the game.

Not even the expansion packs had anything like this. So, what was going on?

Your only solace was that some of the heroines were here as well.

Izumi was the easiest to spot, you just had to follow where the school's male population was staring to find her. You saw Sakaguchi as well, mainly because she stood a head taller than her peers...and still in her PE uniform. Though, you were surprised to see an empty ring centered around Kiyoko, which was strange considering how popular she was in the game. Ayano sat alone in a corner, playing on a handheld console and doing her best impression of a wall. And as you turned your head, you ducked, a miniature drone flying over your head and slamming into the wall beside you, thus you found Hotaru by her follow-up scream.

With them here, nothing catastrophic should happen...

Right?

"All right. Everybody line up."

You stiffened as you and your classmates quickly lined up against the wall, then the teacher began calling out names.

"Shujin Kou."

"Here," you shouted.

The teacher, a middle-aged man with a goatee, looked up from the clipboard then pointed to the circle right next to Izumi. As you turned away to head that way, you missed the look of pity that crossed his face.

"Oh, if isn't Hentai Kou." Izumi huffed when she saw you step into the circle beside hers, crossing her arms underneath her heaving bosom.

"Please spare me from that nickname." You weakly snapped back in a deadpan tone, your growing paranoia keeping your eyes focused on everything else going on around you, away from her bulging mounds. "Do you know what's going on here?"

"We're doing our weekly aptitude tests today... Are you alright? You're looking a little pale there." Concern crossed her face as she saw how pale and worried you looked. "Do you need to go to the infirmary?"

"N-No. I'm fine." You sputtered.

'Aptitude tests? What the blazes was she talking about? There was nothing like this in the game...or is this the scene that plays out when you choose to increase a stat. No, it shouldn't be. My entire class is here, and Izumi said this is a weekly thing. But then what are they testing? Did the game balance get changed? Are my powers going to be exposed? No, they shouldn't be unless they have a sensor for that. Argh...What's going on Narrator?'

The voice in your head remained silent despite your begging and by now, the rest of your class had been sortied into their own circle.

"Ahem." Someone cleared their throat. "Shujin Kou."

You snapped your head up as a man in a suit and holding a clipboard stepped into your circle. It wasn't just you as everyone else had someone in similar clothes to the man in front of you. Izumi had a pretty woman in skirt though she seemed to be standing farther away from Izumi than necessary.

"Mr. Kou. Have you witnessed any bizarre phenomena since our last meeting? Have you felt anything unusual about yourself recently or experienced a sudden change in your physical condition." The man sounded bored, his tone completely lacking any interest as though he's asked these questions dozens of times and knew he'd be getting the same question. Oddly, he seemed to be keeping more of an eye on Izumi instead of you.

Hmmm....

If you were to answer his questions.

You were an interdimensional traveler from another world with a voice in your head that could be interpreted as this world's sole God. This entire world you found yourself in is one that you believed to be a mere video game and you were recently given a miraculous stone that granted you one wish. A wish that you used to give superpowers, not exactly the one you wanted, but a superpower, nonetheless. And now you were in a situation that you had no clue about despite supposedly doing this on a regular basis.

Right...like you were going to tell him any of that.

'Well, here goes nothing.'

You activated your powers, sending out a signal that altered the man's perception of you to block out anything noticeable or interesting in his eyes. As far as his mind was concerned, there was nothing worthwhile about you.

"No sir. Nothing of the sort."

The man sighed, like this is what he had been expecting. "Thank you for your cooperation, Mr. Kou. I shall inform the school that you'll be remaining in the remedial course for the time being..."

You raised an eyebrow as the man stopped speaking and started to quickly backpedal. Turning the direction, he's looking at, you were met with the shocking scene of Izumi being surrounded by an intense white light. Had you been paying attention; you would've noticed that everyone else was quickly vacating the area around her, but it was already too late for you.

"What the...

BANG

..................

"Ow....." you moaned.

For the second time that day, you woke to an unfamiliar ceiling.

You hissed as you tried to sit up, your body feeling like you'd been hit by a runaway bull.

The bed you found yourself in was blocked off by a white curtain, which meant that you were now in the infirmary after...just what had happened.

(((That I can answer for you.)))

"Narrator." You yelped, "What happened?"

(((Simply my boy. Izumi hit you with her explosion and sent you flying. You bounced off the floor quite a few times before you rolled to a stop.)))

"Her explosion? There was nothing like that in the game!"

(((Neither were you, so some adjustments had to be made. You know the law of Equivalent Exchange. Your presence here created an imbalance, so the department above mine had to make some changes. So, congratulations my friend, you're an Esper now...along with all the heroines.)))

"An Esper?"

(((Yep. The entire school has been changed to house and train fledgling Espers to control their powers. Now, I know what you're thinking, but Esper powers in this world are treated more like an... add-on instead of a dangerous ability. Your only obligation is to attend the school to control your powers if they manifest. There is no forced conscription, no shady experiments, or imprisonment... unless you did something very naughty.)))

A chill went down your back.

So, you were right.

The game's balance had been readjusted after you gained your powers. You shuddered to think what the world would be like if you'd chosen a major superpower. The imagination was a powerful thing, and right now, scenarios of what might've happened were dancing their merry tune in your head.

Thank God you didn't make a stupid choice.

"So, Izumi's power is what...just an explosion?"

(((Correct. You were standing inside her blast range, so when you used your own powers, Izumi completely forgot you were standing there. You really got to be careful here bud. If you don't control who you're using it on, then you better be prepared for some pain.)))

So that's what happened.

You thought you only used it on the aptitude tester, but it hadn't been the case. Looks like you need to practice using your powers or at least be very careful. Then something that the man and Narrator had mentioned popped into your head.

"Hey, Narrator. What did he by remedial class or if your powers manifest."

(((Caught onto that huh. Well, to put it simply, it's all in the genes. Most Espers have the same genetic markers, so the government figured out who's most likely going manifest powers and acted accordingly. For those like the heroines, they're put in the active classes and for schmucks like you who haven't manifested, you're put in the remedial class. Well, that no longer applies to you but I doubt you're gonna be announcing that little fact to the world.)))

You nodded, then turned your head as you heard the door open.

(((Good luck out their champ. I'm rooting for yah.)))

And he's gone.

You listened as the footsteps got closer till you could see a shadow on the other side of the curtain. You blinked as ________ peeked through the gap.
