Throughout the school day, you had a gut feeling something would go wrong due to your tiny size - such as you getting separated from Hotaru in some way, or (god forbid) being discovered by another normal-sized student or staff member. Thankfully, by the time lunch period was starting, it seemed your instincts were wrong regarding the dangers you could face. You’d managed to remain undetected on your best friend’s desk, even though she had no other reliable place or way to hide you!
Carrying your shrunken form to the cafeteria and seating herself at a vacant table, Hotaru smiled. “Whew…keeping a tiny person secret makes a girl hungry! I bet you’ve worked up an appetite, too…”
“Hehe, yeah…” you replied, “but since I’m really small, I should be fine with light portions. At least until we find a way to grow me back to normal…”
Hotaru giggled. “Anything specific you’re craving today?”
You shrugged. “Eh, surprise me.”
“Alright, I’ll be right back!” Hotaru set you on the table before standing up. “Don’t go running off, it’s too risky at your size!”
Watching your bestie head over to grab a tray and some food, you gave her words some thought. It was definitely dangerous for a shrunken person to go wandering alone - you could get crushed, discovered, or eaten…
…but when are you gonna get another chance to explore from your current perspective? You only live once, as they say.
Just as you began debating what to do while you waited, another student sat at Hotaru’s spot and set her tray down on the table. Your best friend wasn’t going to like this - you certainly didn’t like it!
Walking closer to the tray, you gave the girl a piece of your mind. “Hey, my friend was sitting there!”
Too bad this stranger didn’t hear your puny voice. “Eww, a bug!”
To your horror, the girl moved a hand down and flicked you away with her pointer finger, the force launching you off the table and into the air for a matter of seconds that felt like hours. You couldn’t control your trajectory at all, and soon enough you descended like a miniature meteorite before finally landing…
