As the doorbell chimed, echoing through the now vast hallway, you took a deep breath and steeled yourself. It's not often you get visitors, especially not while you're in the middle of a secret science experiment. But as the door swung open, you felt your heart drop to your stomach. It was the last thing you expected to see: two female cops, looking stern and professional.

The taller one with her raven black hair pulled back into a tight bun scrutinized you from top to bottom. "Sir, can you tell us why you've called the emergency services?" Her eyes searched the room, not missing a beat despite the apparent lack of an emergency. The shorter, blonder cop held a notepad at the ready, pen poised to scribble down any important details.

You swallowed hard, your mind racing. "I, uh, I think there's been a misunderstanding," you stuttered, your voice cracking. The Shrink-ray in your pocket felt like a hot potato. "It's nothing, just a... false alarm." You hoped the nervousness didn't seep through your pores.

The raven-haired cop raised an eyebrow. "A false alarm, sir?" She glanced at her partner, who remained expressionless, but you could almost hear the skepticism in her gaze. "Could you tell us what exactly was the nature of this misunderstanding?"

You tried to think on your feet, your heart pounding in your chest. "It was, uh, a smoke detector. It went off by mistake. I was cooking." You gestured vaguely towards the kitchen. "I just burned some toast. That's all." The lie tasted bitter, but you hoped it was convincing.

The blonde cop took a step closer, her eyes narrowing. "You don't look like you've been cooking," she said, her voice sharp. "No smoke, no smell of burnt toast."

Your heart hammered in your chest as you realized the hole in your story. "Ah, I, uh, I must have burnt it earlier," you improvised, trying to keep your voice steady. "I'm just really jumpy today. I guess I overreacted." You chuckled nervously, hoping they'd buy it.

The taller cop's gaze remained unwavering. "Is there anything else we should know about, sir?" she asked, her tone unchanged.

Do you tell them about the Shrink Ray?
