A Little Distraction

‘Why rush?’ She said. Liko rolled her eyes.

What about this situation wasn’t an issue? She’d just shrunken down to a few inches tall, and she wasn’t concerned?

Anyone else would be panicking right now. Liko included, and she wasn’t even the one who’d been shrunk.

“Don’t you wanna… get help?” Liko frowned in the doorway, “Cause this isn’t normal, Ann.”

”Well yeah, course it ain’t normal,” the tiny teen shrugged. “But no use worrying about it now. Might as well have fun with it first!”

”Fun?” Liko cried. “How can you have fun like this? You’ll be lucky not to get squished!”

”And that’s part of the fun!” Ann grinned up at her. “All that danger and stuff! I’m so small and helpless, so I’ll need a big, strong person to keep me safe, won’t I?”

She toddled across the tile floor, approaching Liko on the other side of the door. “Can you be my big strong protector, LiLi?”

”Umm…” Liko backed away from her. “I’m not so sure that’s a good idea, Ann. Shouldn’t someone… a little more qualified do it?”

”Well who’s more qualified , LiLi?” Ann craned her neck upwards, from between Liko’s feet. “…whoa. You’re so huge now. To think I used to be that big…”

”This isn’t helping my stress levels, Ann…!” Liko crashed down onto her bed again, massaging her forehead. Of course this happened. For a moment it looked like they were having a moment together, however brief.

And now her roommate was like five inches tall, treating her like some holy protector, as if she wasn’t also just some kid. Hell, wasn’t Ann older than her?

“I can still help with that!” Ann’s tiny voice called out from somewhere about the bottom of the bed.

Liko frowned, and peered over the edge of the bed. “You can… what?”

Only Ann was already clambering up towards her. Naked as the day she was born, with a manic look in her tiny eyes, this was a girl who committed to a promise, it seemed.

”Yeah, remember?!” Ann puffed, toppling over the edge of the bed, landing next to Liko’s hip. “I said I’d do it, remember? Deal’s still on the table, LiLi!”

”But you’re… tiny.” Liko said. “What exactly are you gonna do?”

”Hmm…” Ann stumbled back onto her feet. “Ooh, bouncy. Uh, I guess I’ll just get creative? What’s the worst that could happen, LiLi?”

”I make the wrong movement and crush you?” Liko cried. That’d be the last thing she needed. How was she going to explain that?

”Well we better be careful then, huh?” Ann giggled, clutching onto Liko’s thigh and attempting to hoist herself over.

“…you’re really serious about this?” Liko sighed. “You definitely don’t wanna get help? Find a way to unshrink you…?”

”Well maybe?” Ann shrugged, bouncing on Liko’s thigh, “but until then I got a promise to keep. Now where do ya want me?!”

”W-what?” Liko gasped, but it looked like her little friend had made up her mind. Ann was ready to help her ‘destress’ by whatever means necessary, and she supposed she just had to let it happen.
