As Clarisse would quickly find out, her master had taken little pause in preparing the next phase of this extra lesson. Squelching sounds from above heralded the approach of new food. The small alchemist only barely got out of the way of when new lump of cake, in all its chewed and mushy glory, splashed its way down to the stomach. She yelped as she fell down from the sudden intruder's impact, soaking herself in the stomach acid(?) before being washed over by a wave of the stuff.

Her initial feelings were that of relief, feeling like she had just avoided an ambush from the biggest slime she had ever seen, but this thought was quickly scratched. Firstly, this thing wasn't alive. Likening it to an actual predatory monster was a silly panic-filled exaggeration; it was more like a soft boulder, or a clump of quicksand.

Secondly, it was much too early to feel relief.

"aaaaaaaaAAAAH!"

The squelching continued, as did Clarisse's wading, empowered by her very brave scream of definitely determination. If this liquid truly was acid, she'd deal with the consequences as they came. Her target remained the pre-existing pile by what she assumed to be the front-facing wall. It was the only place hidden from her eyes and, if correct, where she had heard his agitation from the outside just a few moments before. There were no realistic alternatives... nor was there time to consider any.

The cake kept coming. The globs piled on top of previous ones before spreading so Clarisse didn't have to worry about another ambush. But the sounds of sloshing mush showed no signs of stopping. There was no guarantee that it would stop. The mass would only start spreading higher and wider, until...

Clarisse picked up pace without looking back. Cagliostro wasn't one to do something like this without a reason. Her increasingly fervent focus in finding the small scholar was doing wonders in avoiding acknowledging the possibility that her master had enough pastry in stock to bury both of them alive.
