“Sure!” Roxy said chipperly, much to your surprise.
“Wait, really?” you were half expecting some sort of resistance on her part, but she was taking this remarkably well.
“Of course! I mean, I’m not gonna pretend to get what’s happening here at all, but…” Roxy shrugged. “Chances are Zoe’s got my necklace, so might as well bring you along to swap!” With that, Roxy left you on the bed while she got ready to leave.
The air outside was cold; your box did little to shield from the elements, even less so once Roxy tore the lid off. All you could do was look up at her face as she walked, having no idea where you were or how much longer you had to sit here for. Regardless, you were glad Roxy was being so accommodating.
“So… what’s the deal with being all tiny?” Roxy asked out of nowhere. “There are easier ways to talk to an ex, y’know…”
“It’s, uh… an inside joke. Zoe will understand.”
“Oh, I don’t doubt it. But I’m the one asking. Seriously, c’mon! Tell me!” She was like an overly curious - and somewhat annoying - younger sibling pestering her brother.
You knew you couldn’t tell her the truth. For one, it would be wrong to out Zoe’s kink to her friend, and for two, it would be super embarrassing. “It’s difficult to explain.”
“Fine, I’ll ask Zoe.” Roxy said with a pout and a shrug.
“Go ahead.” You smirked, knowing full well Zoe wouldn’t tell her the truth either. “I didn’t know you spoke to Lydia.” You changed the subject, hoping to avoid interrogation for the rest of the trip.
“Hm? Oh, yeah, we talk sometimes. We used to be way closer when we were little kids, but… y’know. Friends grow apart. I started hanging out with Zoe, she started hanging out with you… it happens.”
“Sorry I stole your friend. For what it’s worth, she’s kind of an asshole anyway.” You joked, earning a laugh from Roxy.
“No need to apologise. We’re still cool, just don’t talk as much.”
The rest of the journey went by in silence as Roxy walked through a more densely populated area. You stayed quiet in the box too, not wishing to be seen by anymore people besides Zoe.
