Zoe takes Jack out of her bag and he sees they are in a large pet store by the mall.  H e can see they are in the aisle where the sell various things for a small animal like a mouse or a hamster.  Jack looks up at her and asks "What are we doing here?"  Zoe smiles down at him and replies "I need to find a nice place for you to stay.  What do you think of this?" as she holds him up to see an empty glass habitat.

"Zoe!" Jack answers "I don't want to be locked up in a glass case.  Can't I just stay in your room."  Zoe continues smiling at him and says "It would be like your own room.  We can decorate it and get doll furniture for you.  It's better than living on the floor in my room.  Plus this way I'll always know where to find you. "  Jack insists trying to change her mind while she looks at the price tags.  "Ohh, this is a little pricey" she says, "Maybe we should wait and see how this works out."  

Zoe starts to walk down the aisle with Jack in her hand as she continues to look.  Jack meanwhile feels like he dodged a bullet.  As Zoe is looking a girl approaches her in her early teens and sees Jack in Zoe's hand.  "Is that a little man?" she asks Zoe "He is sooo cute.  Can I hold him?"  Suddenly Jack feels very vulnerable as this isn't that big but still twenty times bigger than him. 

Zoe isn't about to hand him over to this girl but Jack doesn't know that and clings to her fingers.   "He's my boyfriend." Zoe tells the girl "and he's very fragile."  The girl persists and says "My family owns this store.   I know how to handle small animals."  Zoe still resists but the girl continues "Don't worry.  My name is Ellie and I can hold him while you look around.  If you let me hold him, I can get you half off anything in the store."

Zoe slips Jack into her pocket and the girl continues to follow her persisting "Come on, just let me touch him."  Zoe says "No, absolutely not." and the girls demeanor changes and she says "I'm sorry.  Let me give you something to make up for it.  How about this?" and she shows Zoe a small plastic carrying case that you might use to a small animal for transport.   It was probably only about 5 inches by 7 inches but it was big enough for Jack.  It had a pink lid with a handle and the rest was transparent plastic.   "Let me hold him for a minute and it's free."  Jack knows Zoe can't turn down a good deal and says "Free and only hold him for a minute." as she reaches him her pocket and withdraws Jack.  Jack tries to hold on to Zoe but she dumps him into the waiting palm of this girl. 

The girls attention turns totally to Jack in her palm as she pokes and prods him looking at him.  She says |You are so cute and adorable.  I wish I had a boyfriend like you.   Jack tries to avoid her but she squeezes him in her hand and continues until Zoe tells her to give him back. 

The girl gives Jack back to her and they go to the register to check out.  "I just need you to register for our reward program and you'll get that item for free."  Zoe hesitates but doesn't feel like arguing and gives her name, phone number and address.  The girl bags up the cage and Zoe leaves quickly not wanting to have to interact with his girl anymore. 

Zoe puts the package in the car and gets in to drive over to the food court of the mall to meet her friend while Jack is stashed back in her bag's side pocket.
