Dosing-wise, she knew what she had told Donovan: a little goes a long way. She sprinkled on just a few crystals, far less than she would do with even salt. Bracing herself, she tried a bite.
As the crystals dissolved, she experienced exactly what others had said: a saltiness that seemed almost overpowering at first, then a pleasant lingering that made the rest of the bite taste amazing. Surprised at how well it worked, she added a bit more as she continued her dinner. She had eaten Donovan’s lasagna many times before, but there was no denying that the glutaryloxyacetate was taking it to another level. She found herself a little regretful as she finished her last bite.
She tossed and turned that night, trying to find a comfortable resting spot, but she couldn’t stop thinking about her dinner. From a clinical perspective, she understood what she saw in the restaurant earlier: that food was downright addictive.
When she woke up in the morning, she felt famished. Her normal breakfast of a yogurt cup and some instant oatmeal weren’t going to cut it.
