Your caring mother pops into your mind as a interesting subject. You figure you could try to convince her to explore a few places, within reason of course. You smile and carry your device with you, deciding to go and check on your mom.

You walk down the stairs, the smell of pancakes filling the air. It was always your mom's special treat on Sunday despite making them every weekend for the past 20 or so years. Despite working at an office setting, she had quite a lively personality that translated very well into her cooking. The smell of chocolates and creams followed suit. Mom had probably made her chocolate chip pancakes with hot cocoa! You smile and decsend down the steps and enter the main hall leading into the kitchen foyer. You see you mom whisking away at one last batch while two piles of pancakes are stacked on a couple of plates. Despite making so many pancakes, your mom was never one to let one go to waste. Her stomach had to be big and strong to tackle that much food. Thanksgiving at relatives' houses always had to prepare an extra half-full course meal just for your mom! As you walk down the last step your mom turns to you, flour and batter staining her apron.

"Oh, honey! You're awake, great! I finished your set of pancakes, your sister should be up shortly too."

"Alright," you reply eagerly. You weren't sure how to exactly show or even ask your mom your request, so you opted to have some breakfast first and think about it. You move over and sit down at the kitchen island counter and pull over a plate of stacked cakes. You start to carefully pick apart your breakfast meal, sipping on a mug of hot chocolate as well.

"I heard you shouting in your room? Something bad or something good hun?" Your mom asks. You figure this could segway into a good way to ask your question to explore her.

"Something good." You reply with a mouthful. You look down as you roll the ring between your fingers. You set it down on the counter, the surface seemingly warm from the hot plates. You mom walks over and slides an empty plate next to yours as you eat. You look up to her and see her smiling warmly at you, knowing she was taking her "mom tax". You roll your eyes and nudge towards your plate and she laughs softly, sliding the two upper most pancakes off your stack and onto her plate.

"Well that's good." She says with a smile, cutting up her pancakes before chowing down quickly. "Wanna tell me?" You rub the back of your neck, looking off to the side and away from her but bring your attention back to mom.

"Well... I started working on a- AH!" Your mom's eyes widen as she closes her mouth and swallows abruptly, coughing greatly. Surprised by your outburst, she traces the lump of food in her mouth down her thick neck, a visible lump decsending down into her chest, passing her collar bone. Your face goes pale as realize what has happened. What caused you to freak out was that you saw the glint of your ring inside of your mother's maw. You must have mistakenly put your ring on your pancake instead of the counter! And before you could react properly, you freaked out which caused your mom to freak out and promptly swallow your months of hard work in one struggled gulp. You put your head in your hands dejectedly as your mother slams her chest as she clears her throat.

"My goodness Lucian Smith! Do not do that to me! What scared you so much?" You sigh and apologize.

"S-sorry mom, its just that uhm.. you swallowed... uh.. my ring. That's what I wanted to tell you about." Your mother holds her chest as she catches her breath and pants softly.

"Oh honey, I'm so sorry.. I... I didn't even see or.. even taste it. My bad hun. Did you work hard on it? Was that what you wanted to talk to me about?" You suck in you cheek and nod. Your mom pouts and cups your head, kissing your forehead. "I'm sorry honey, I'll try and make it up to you okay? I'll try and get you more stuff to try and remake it." You nod and get up.

"I-I think I'm just going to head to my room for a bit?" You say softly.

"Okay. I'll save some of the fresh pancakes for you. Again, I'm sorry honey." You nod and make your way back into your room. You groan as you enter and flop face first into your bed, sinking into it as you sigh. The feeling of a piece of paper on your chest making it less comfortable. You sigh and roll over, pulling the paper off you and looking at it briefly before tossing it aside. You stare up at the ceiling a bit before your brain realizes what you just tossed! You look down onto the floor where it lands and see what was written on it. It was a sketch-up of your version 2 ring, the ring you lost. NOT version one, which you still had! You scramble off your bed and look under it, looking for the junk bin, pulling it out and sifting through various other experiments until you find it! Your Mark 1! It didn't work as well as you had hoped it would. The shield and pressure defense functions were non-existant, but its shrinking and growing capabilities were ... semi functional. It would often glitch and stay shrunken longer than would be desireable after a regrow signal had been dispatched. But, if you could shrink down and get after your new one, you could potentially retrieve it and swap out the new ring no problem! Well... other than being inside another person being a problem, but that could be better managed... but if you didn't find it or got lost inside someone, that'd be bad. That someone finally dawning on you being your mom. You'd probably have to ask her to eat you and explain everything to her... unless. Unless you went in unnoticed. If you waited for her to sleep or snuck into one of her meals you could avoid the awkwardness of telling her... but maybe lose the comfort of her assistance.

Or... maybe you could just ask her to get it out. You faintly remember her being able to do stuff others couldn't with her stomach. A party trick one Christmas where she swallowed a coin and brought it back up. Was it real or maybe just misdirection, perhaps it wouldn't hurt to ask ...
