Anna and her ant farm
Anna, an extroverted, young woman of 25, woke up in her comfortable bed early on a Saturday morning, which are days of exploration.
"What a good dream I had", she thought. A dream that involved her tiny, adorable "Putians” and she instinctively turned her gaze towards her farm, a small glass container she called “Haven” that rested on a shelf next to her bed.
"Good morning, little ones" she whispered to them, otherwise she would have scared them by greeting them in her normal voice.
"Okay, guys. Today, I'm going out to explore the high forest and try to find more of your people" she whispered to them.
"Maybe I can even find a new species today" she thought. With a smile on her lips, Anna lay back on her mattress, trying to keep that dream from losing its lucidity in her memory. Although she admitted it was difficult, she dreamed of being a goddess in which her precious "ants” adored her, becoming one with her, and living within her. She was their "everything" and they loved her. This dream wasn’t so far-fetched since Anna was one of those "ants" as well. Even though she was a woman of science, she worshipped the great goddess, the giver of life, the mother of all nature, the Goddess, Leslie, who gave life and protection to billions of "ants" like her. They lived as residents of her great and immeasurable body and managed to achieve a flourishing and growing civilization worthy of her love.
Anna was a "Microputian" citizen. This was apparently the official name of her species, though no-one had even heard the name until the Goddess told them. Anna was a biologist, lover of nature and life forms, she studied with vigor the biological interactions of the different species with her "mother nature.” Week after week, she explored the "Eureka Forest.” (as her fellow Micros called it) It was common to find under a small bush or plant, traces of what were once propserous small civilizations that disappeared for reasons that are still unknown to Anna. Now, there were only small buildings in ruins left. Occasionally, Anna would find some “citizens” still living inside them.
Anna had taken it upon herself to find and bring home the “citizens” that she found throughout her exploration of Eureka Forest. These poor people needed her help. She always remembered what the Goddess said when she first met her “As the largest race on Earth, it is my duty to protect those who cannot protect themselves.” Some were larger than others. She kept them safe in “Haven” to study their behavior and interaction. She quickly became very fond of them and chatted with them. Their stories of their harsh life in the forest before she saved them moved her to tears. She was in the same situation before Leslie tracked down and rescued her entire settlement. She found that the “Putians” did the impossible of acquiring the resources needed to survive. She had so far identified three species different in size from each other: Nanoputians, Femtoputians and Attoputians and this time she hoped to find, according to her hypothesis, one more species.
Anna was eager to succeed this time in her search for more life forms. Saving even just one life today would be a success. She approached her window and unfolded the curtains, it was still dark outside. The goddess "Leslie" was still sleeping. Suddenly, a very loud noise was heard in the horizon and a strong shaking shook the whole place. Out of nowhere, the sky changed and the whole horizon was illuminated.
"The goddess has woken up" said Anna and looked at her watch.
"Damn! I have to hurry or I’ll miss the bus" she bemoaned as she urgently dashed into the bathroom for a quick shower.
And at the same time...
Inside a dazzling palace...
On a huge bed, a beautiful young woman of twenty was sleeping peacefully, dreaming of the reunion with her "faithful beloved" who would arrive soon. Suddenly, an abrupt noise her lovely dream short. A startled Lesie awoke with anger and frustration. She pulled back the sheets...
