The closest Microputian tunnel to the surface came up in the back yard of Jess Greenpeace. She knew of the Microputians and allowed them to live in her back yard so long as they kept the bugs killed off and flower garden tended. As he made his way to the surface hatch, Maria stopped him. "Where are you going dressed like that?" She asked carrying a basket of flower seeds held close to her chest.

"This is goodbye Maria, I wish you all the best, but if I find what I'm looking for out there... I won't be back," Adam tried to shake her hand goodbye. They'd gone to school together, and never been friends, but now suddenly Maria was acting like she was worried about him. "Where will you go? What if you run out of food?"

"My mind is made up, I'm sick of living like a maggot below the Lillies' feet. It's time I get out there and start living," he was assuring her it was going to be great, even though he had NO assurances of his own. For all he knew, a bird could snatch him up before he left the yard... But that was the thrill of adventure.

"You should take this... Just in case," Maria took a cheap plastic headset from her purse and thrust it into Adam's hands.
