At first, everything seemed to go smoothly. The portal opened up without any issues and managed to remain stable without any unforeseen fluctuations. You had the freedom to move through dimensions and travel wherever you see fit, the entire multiverse was your oyster, or so you thought. Oh, how wrong you were
Suddenly as you were perusing your time of spells you heard a strange crackling sound coming from right I What you saw almost made you drop the book in shock. While you weren't looking the edges of the portal began to bleed from it's containment, and bolts of purple lightning arced and licked at the surrounding air. The smoke that was supposed to remain within the event horizon twisted and writhed, almost as if it had come alive.
"Oh no no no no, not this!" You screeched in panic.
There must be something you did wrong, some kind of step you must've skipped. You frantically flipped through the book to look for some way to fix this.
It was then that your worst fears became reality; the black smoke finally decided what it wanted to be and coalesced into a giant hand big enough to fill the whole chamber.
You had no chance to flee or fight back, as the hand quickly zeroed in your position, and with lightning speed grabbed you and dragged you kicking and screaming into the portal.
