Just then, the door dings as a pony steps into the shop. Mrs. Cake was so busy with finishing closing up the shop in preparation for her talk with Pinkie that she didn't even hear the mare approach. She gives a little yelp and swiftly turns around when she feels a tap on her shoulder. "Oh! Marble! I didn't expect you to come in today. I don't have any work for you at the moment... Did you come to see Pinkie Pie?"
The gray mare nods, giving off a quiet "Mhmmm."
Mrs. Cake points at the staircase leading upstairs. "She's on the second floor dear. I'm sure you know the way."
Marble had recently made the decision to strike out into the world like her twin Pinkie, and was currently living with Maud, her other sister. She would occasionally come in to help to help tidy the place up after closing.
Marble mumbled a "thank you" before making her way up the stairs and out of sight.
After about half an hour Pinkie comes down, looking more distracted than usual.
"Um, Mrs. Cake? Do you think maybe I can talk to you... in private?"
Mrs. Cake smiles gently. "Why, sure Pinkie Pie, whatever is the matter dear?
Pinkie hesitates a moment before saying, "Weeeell, you remember how devastated she was when she found out that Big Mac was seeing Sugar Belle last Hearth's Warming and she's become even more shy and withdrawn ever since. She's been staying with Maud in her underground cave, but honestly, I think she'd be better off here and town where she can interact with other ponies. Basically what I'm asking is if Marble can stay here with me for a little while, at least until she can get back on her hooves? I'm not pressuring you to make a decision or anything, if staying here doesn't pan out I have other places in mind to keep her."
Mrs. Cake considers a moment before replying.
