After months of continually using magic and near-constant study and practice they finally... achieved their first level of arcane mastery and moved slightly up a grade.
Hey, learning magic isn't easy, it's a lifelong skill that requires years of dedication to master, and you had a good teacher.
Simply reading out spells from the book didn't make one a true practitioner of the arts after all.
Still. their achievement could not be denied and they took their first step on the long road to becoming archmages.
One day, while Cream and Vanilla were well into their pregnancies to the point where their belly bumps were large and well rounded to accommodate the brood gestating within. Cream had an idea of how they could take their magic to the next level and show that they're serious about becoming mages. Both the rabbits were beginning to enjoy the feeling of having new life growing inside them, Vanilla more so since she could remember what it felt like to carry Cream in her tummy.
She floated the idea to her mother one morning over the breakfast table. and surprisingly enough, Vanilla seemed receptive and even welcoming of the idea.
With the mage being unable to move since being reverted back to being in the womb and they coming into possession of his magical book they owed it to him to at least try to continue his work while he waited to be reborn.
Maybe it was high time they took a vacation.
Not just any vacation but one spent in another world entirely.
They now had the power and knowledge to open portals to other worlds just like the mage did, so why not use that power?
They were perfectly sure that he wouldn't mind much, since he wasn't exactly trying to enforce some kind of sacred law to keep the worlds separate
There was much discussion, planning, pointing out of potential problems and heated debate before the two rabbits finally came down to a decision.
