You decided to go see the Sonic Adventure series.
After teleporting to the world, you found yourself in an open field. After looking around, you decided to walk and decide on what to do.
You decided to switch between a mobian form and your normal form, if only for amusement purposes.
There's also if you want to help Sonic, help Eggman, or remain neutral and explore the vast world that the characters lived in.
If you help Sonic, you risk falling into the background, like so many of his friends and allies. But with your magic book, you might be able to either stand by him or become a rival and not only show him up, but perhaps do it with his [possibly former] friends and allies! After all, they might like Sonic, but could resent how he always saves the day.
If you help Eggman, you'd be helping a manchild whose a brilliant inventor who wants to conquer the world and make it an amusement park. He might get very clingy, since you might be his first willing friend.
Or perhaps, you might want to be a bad guy and show everyone what a real villain is! With your magic book by your side, Sonic doesn't stand a chance! You could even make a harem
Or you might want to do something about that person sneaking up on you. Maybe it's Amy Rose? Maybe it's Metal Sonic?
