Reading a bit of this kind of celebration, you found out that small towns, such as Ponyville, have this kind of celebration of similar theme in order to combat declining birthrates and overall depopulation as they don't have enough stallions or herds producing enough foals or this town isn't recieving new blood anytime; the festival is held in order to obtain both, an boom on birthrates and attract new ponies looking to live here, preferable more males that enjoy breeding.
The majority of the town had changed for this kind of festival and so does their inhabitants; You noted an change of pattern within the mare population, originally, they barely acknowledge you beyond the usual glance of curiosity, wariness and wonder but today that behavior has changed somewhat, most were starting to notice you more and more, some outright continue to stare even as you looked then back and admittedly, you felt a bit creep out by it but noted something on them, as if their gears of their mind were turning and shifting, as if they were evaluating you as they observes you.

Today was the day of the starts of the Ceremony and you were approaching to the main stage and podium, many ponies were gathering around it, you however going forward to the podium where the Mayor, her assistant and secretary as well as Twilight Sparkle herself were waiting for you. The the latter was keenly surprised while the Mayor was smiling brightly upon seeing you coming but looking at Twilight reminded you to your original goal here but you decided to take your time for now, there was this thing to going on and you sort of wanted to participate, murmurs started to going around as soon you got there, photos flashes light up to your precense, no doubt to get a more view of yourself.

"Ah yes, indeed but we follow those out of politeness, is a written law, afterall; even if we merely use it as a guideline as it doesn't hold the same weight in towns like ours, but this festival allows us to outright ignore it as well few others; in here, we can fully express ourselves to anypony and bring forth much needed new blood to our town, be it new ponies looking to live or making them ourselves!"
