"...sorry" Jill mumbles, looking away from the two, "But I-I've had some bad experiences in the past, especially with giant girls, a-and I really don't wanna go back there. I hope you understand?"
"Course" Katie deadpans, hitching her pants up again and extracting herself from around Rayne, "Lemme know if you change your mind, huh?"
Without another word, Katie exits the room with the slightest trace of a huff, leaving a stunned Rayne and an ashamed Jill.
"Aww, man..." Rayne sighs, "Now she's gonna tell everyone about this, and negative feedback will mean it'll be harder to find clients, and-"
"Heyyy, it's OK..." Jill tries her best to soothe Rayne's broken spirits, "We'll be fine, I'm sure!"
"No, we won't be fine Jill!" Rayne cries, "We need money to be fine, otherwise we can't pay the bills and we can't eat! I'm too young to get a decent, honest job, so you tell me what we're gonna do now, huh?!"
Jill stands stock still for a moment, stunned by Rayne's outburst. In the months they've known each other, Jill has never heard Rayne raise her voice even once, always knowing her as a happy, quirky, bubbly teenager. But now, Rayne's been all but reduced to tears, because of something she did. Or rather, something she didn't do...
"...you're right" she eventually owns up, cautiously edging towards her upset friend and patting her on the thigh, as it's the closest part of her she can reach, "I-I should've helped, shouldn't I? I mean, it it wasn't for me, you wouldn't be having to do this sorta stuff in the first place. And you must've worked so hard..."
"It's amazing what you do for love..." Rayne splutters through her tears. With a careful motion, she reaches down and plucks her diminutive friend from the ground, and places her gently on the bed next to her. "I don't care what I have to do, Jill" she mumbles, brushing her long reddish hair from her eyes, "Keeping you safe from harm is my number one priority now. You got that?"
"W-why me?" Jill asks, stunned, "Why'm I so special?"
"Why does there have to be a reason?" Rayne smiles through her hair, those grey eyes of hers lighting up with jubilation once again, "Everyone has a someone out there, Jill. And I think I've found mine in you. Something pushed our lives together, and I'm not gonna question what, because all I see right now is a beautiful young girl, standing in front of me. A beautiful young girl that needs loving care and protection. And that's all that matters"
Before Jill can react, Rayne has her in her grip once again, and ever so softly places a kiss on her head. The ghost of its touch, it's as if it wasn't even there.
"I-I know you don't really like it..." Rayne mumbles, placing her down again, "But the moment just felt right, y'know?"
Jill eyes her friend for a moment, staring into those metallic looking eyes. Sparkling with a vivacious passion, almost as if someone had physically lit the strips of magnesium circling her pupils, she ponders...
"I-I'll stop now" Rayne stammers, looking away and blushing, "Sorry Jill. I got a bit carried away there, huh?"
Walking a little closer to her friend's face, Jill says;
