"Bruce," called Simone to a boy sitting by the middle desk of the second row. He looked bored out of his mind, and it seemed he was busy counting the lines on the palm of his hand. "Jill will sit with you. Her mother told me she's a good student, maybe she'll be able to set you some example."
This made Jill feel a little better. Simone actually said she was better than one of those intimidating giants all gathered in that classroom.
Simone gently put her on Bruce's desk and laid a tiny chair and a miniature desk next to her. "Bruce, no chewing gums in the classroom," she said and reached her hand to him. Bruce grunted and spit the gum into her hand. "Thank you." she said and threw it in the garbage.
Jill was starting to feel a little nervous. She hoped this guy is friendlier than he looks. Bruce started staring at the girl standing on his desk.
"So... how's it going?" Jill said in a brave attempt to break the ice. He didn't answer, just continued staring at her. "O...k. I'll just sit, you know, over here. If you need help in anything I'll be here to help you out." She said, trying to convert her scared face into a smiling face with little success, and moved her miniature chair and desk as far away from him as possible, and then sat down.
Jill tried to focus on the teacher, and tried ignoring the weird guy sitting behind her.
