Chloe brought the kicking Jill up to her face. Its okay little one, Ill let you rest a little before we do anything else.
No! Let me go you monster! Jill fought like crazy against the hand that put her back in the cage. Chloe locked the door and set the key on the dresser. Smiling sweetly at Jill, she walked out of the room and closed the door.
Jill kicked the cage in frustration, then grabbed the bars and screamed at the top of her lungs. Someone had to hear her.
Eventually someone did.
Half an hour later, the bedroom door creaked slowly open and a young girl crept into the room. She was only nine or ten, but slim and very pretty.
Help me! Jill shouted at her. Get me out of here.
Looking anxiously both ways down the hall, the girl walked quickly over to the dresser, picked up the key, unlocked the door and snatched Jill out of the cage. She rushed out of the room and down the hallway to another bedroom. She closed the door, sat down in the center of her room cross-legged, and dropped Jill onto one of her long legs.
Thank you, Jill gasped. Thank you!
I heard you screaming, she said. I didnt know Chloe brought home a new pet.
Im not a pet, Jill said angrily, standing up. The girls leg made for unsteady footing. Im a person just like you. My name is Jill.
Hi Jill. My names Marcy. Youre pretty. She started petting Jills long blond hair. Reminded instantly of how Chloe had just treated her, and realizing how much she and Marcy looked alike, Jill slapped the girls finger away.
Stop it!
Sorry. Whats the matter? Marcy asked in an annoyed tone.
Jill wanted to change the subject. Are you Chloes sister?
Yep.
Suddenly a knock at the door startled both of them. Marcy grabbed Jill and slid her underneath her shirt. She folded her arms over her and leaned back against the side of her bed.
What is it? Marcy called.
The door opened and Chloe stuck her head in the door. Mom and Dad and I are going to the mall. Well be back in an hour, okay?
Yeah, thats fine.
Youll be here by yourself
Ill be fine. Just go.
Okay. Bye.
Pulling Jill out from under her shirt, Marcy said, She must not have noticed you were missing yet.
Good. Thanks for hiding me.
Yeah! Marcy said excitedly, cuz now we get to play...
