As Edna thought over her next move, she yelped in pain as a tank shell hit her right in the foot. It didn't break her skin or even leave a bruise, mind you, but it still hurt like a son of a bitch. Her attention temporarily shifted Heather to the army of 'gnats' that dared to invade her space.
She would deal with them first.
"Edna?" Ruth yipped in concern. The army was now also peppering her with shots. Just like with her friend it stung something fierce even though there were no visible lasting signs of damage.
Seeing her bestie being sprinkled with gunfire was more than enough to earn the giant geek girl's ire. She raised her foot high above the awaiting ground forces and gave the now trembling soldiers a good view of the underside of her foot.
They could make out more than a few red stains and parts of buildings caught in between the wrinkles of the giantess's foot and it was more than enough motivation to make them want to retreat. Unfortunately for them though, that wasn't an option.
The ginger brought her foot down... and obliterated the forces down below. The ones under her foot were obliterated on the spot by the massive amount of weight and pressure the geek exerted. Anyone that wasn't trampled beneath her was flung for miles by the sheer shockwave she created.
Ruth watched with morbid fascination as the group of ants were easily dealt with. She could hardly believe it. The united states military was as threatening to them as ants to dinosaur. It was all so surreal.
Her focus then shifted to the jets and helicopters that were still raining down bullets upon her. She followed her best friend's lead a waved her hand to swat the pests. Just like flies the jets and copters were swatted to the ground, the metal machines exploding in miniature balls of fire.
Ruth was stunned. This was all so... easy.
"Damn bugs." Edna whispered as she wiped her foot against the ground. She then looked over the horizon to see no sign of Heather. She grit her teeth in frustration, the army while not a challenge had actually managed to delay her long enough for her quarry to escape.
Ruth followed her friend's gaze and put two and two together. She walked up to her trembling friend and pulled her into a tight embrace. "Don't worry, we'll get her next time. She can't run and hide from us forever."
"I know." the geek whispered, although she was still angry. "I just... really wanted to try your idea, ya know."
Ruth smiled. "I know, I really wanted to see you eat her too. But there's always next time. She'll turn up again. Her ego won't let her stay hidden."
Edna looked back at the horizon and nodded.

Heather meanwhile sighed in relief as she made it outside the city and onto the highway. She had actually managed to make it out of that scrap in one piece. Now all she had to do was find a place to lay low until her family could acquire that size technology for her.
Just thinking about that damn nerd made her blood boil. She stole her spotlight, embarrassed her, and threatened her to boot. She no doubt would've killed her too if given the chance. The former teen idol shuttered at the idea.
Edna was going to burn for this. She would become a giant as well and make that runt pay for even considering stepping up to her. For now though she had to calm her rapidly beating heart, and make a few calls.
"You will pay for this Edna McCoy, mark my words. You. Will. Pay."
She would deal with them first.
