The mob handed you off to the military, who silently drove you to the airport. None of the soldiers spared you a second glance before you were shoved onto a plane heading for Florida. Apparently they re-purposed an old space shuttle to take you off world, though unlike astronauts you were spared having to do any training as engineers reconfigured the spacecraft to launch remotely. According to the voice, you needed to be launched into space safely in order for the asteroid to be destroyed. For the rest of the world, that meant that your comfort and safety was optional. No one had wished you good luck or protested your situation. All they cared about was survival. And could you really blame them?
That was how you found yourself strapped into a seat in a shuttle, watching as the timer ticked down to launch. You had no clue what any of the instruments and gauges did, with one particularly gruff military man told you to sit back, shut up, and not touch anything. Considering the circumstances, that advice was for your own good.
As the timer hit zero, the craft began to rumble as ignition kicked in. And for a few seconds, you were pushed back into your seat by G-forces while the shuttle slowly ascended into the atmosphere. But instead of the force increasing on your body, it suddenly stopped. Puzzled, you looked out the window and saw that the spaceship was still rocketing upwards, which meant that you should still have felt something. Yet you didn't, meaning the ride into space was remarkably pleasant despite the anxiety you felt for leaving your home planet, possibly for good.
At least the view was nice. After breaching the atmosphere, you could see the stars in all their glory amid the black expanse of space. It was beautiful, but there was no sign of anything else. You didn't know what the voice was, and neither did anyone on Earth. You have expected aliens to appear in a spaceship by now, but there was no sign of life to be seen.
And then you heard a loud giggle. It echoed in the confines of the ship, but you couldn't find where the noise came from.
"Hello? Who's there?" you asked the empty room. Again, there was a booming laugh at your question before you heard the same female voice back on Earth.
"I bet you've got a lot of questions cutie, but let's wait until we meet face to face before I answer them, OK?" the voice said.
Before you had a chance to respond, the shuttle stopped moving as if something had gripped it firmly in place. Again, you couldn't see anything outside the windows, but it wasn't long before the ship rocketed upwards at an angle that was impossible considering the position of the engines. The speed at which you moved was faster than any man made craft could have gone, and thoughts of aliens flooded your head again. At least you weren't affected by the speed, as you could float comfortably without any force bashing you against the interior.
Eventually the movement slowed, then stopped, as the craft began to slowly turn around. You gasped as a gigantic alien being slid into view. Judging by the distance, size, and the feminine features on its body, this alien woman was much, much bigger than Earth was. Her size dominated your vision, and you gulped as her eyes seemed to lock onto your minuscule body through the window, her smile widening as she stared deep into you.
"Nice to finally meet you, my soulmate," the alien lovingly said.
Strangely, she looked like an anthropomorphic version of an Earth animal. But what did she look like exactly?
