The cat's tongue (it's cleaning itself)! Your Life......Smaller chapter 23 by copier · original author: mindthief

The neighbor’s cat was one of only a few in the entire neighborhood, and, unfortunately for you, it was the only one that was allowed outside the house. It did not run away or get into too much trouble, provided nothing spooked it too badly. You would occasionally watch it on the days your mother would put you on the window to see the outside world. You decided long ago that they were not for you.

The cat meandered around the yard, enjoying the sun and the warmth it provided. It caught and ate a lizard, lay down, the. Got back up again to walk to the edge of the road. It would often watch people and vehicles pass by. At the moment, however, it felt the powerful feline urge to clean itself. It promptly collapsed onto its belly and dragged its tongue against its furry ribs.

The ground shakes so violently that you aren’t just knocked off your feet, your actually blown an inch or two into the air. You double over on the middle of a hair and straddle it with a little effort. “That’s concerning,” you murmur nervously. From your spot on the hair, you can actually see a bit of the outside world, and that’s the part that terrifies you. What you see is the cat’s massive head approaching, eyes closed and jaws agape. Massive white fangs pass overhead, each one longer than a skyscraper. You are frozen with fear as it’s mouth eclipses the light above.

The sound is what you perceive next, like trees slamming against one another in a storm. You look toward the source and let out a panicked scream. A pink wall of terrifying spikes rushes toward you, pinning down every hair in its wake. Above it lies he dark red of the feline’s cavernous gullet. The tongue drags slowly, to you at least, across the animal’s fur until it reaches you. All you can do it brace for impact.

The spiky tongue washes over you, giving you a powerful whiff of everything it’s eaten in the last week or so. Darkness overtakes your world for what seems like a minute before passing by. You’ve been spared! You look up and see the cat’s neck drawing back to start over and make a hasty decision. You jump down toward the cat’s skin to avoid being caught up on its tongue.
