There was really only one thing of interest to Jaz and that was the tiny blue marble called Earth. Her large eyes locked onto it as she focused on the orb as intensely as she could. What was she doing? Not even she could tell you. It was just a passing whim, a fancy, a moment to do something that would never cause a reaction and expect one. Except, there was certainly a reaction here.
"Oh my God..." Jaz was in awe at what she was seeing.
Earth, big enough to fit between her fingers, was growing smaller. The Giga Goddess' fingers had to close tighter and tighter to keep from losing grip on it. Slowly it dwindled in size, with no other reason than the cocoa giantess willed it so. She wasn't growing. She didn't have the usual euphoric sensation that came with expansion nor did any of the neighboring planets or suns and stars get any smaller. It was only Earth that was getting smaller. And they didn't even know it. How could they? The sky was always the same shade of indistinguishable brown. It getting bigger didn't even register to them. It was just beyond their comprehension. And even if they did notice Jaz getting bigger so what? She grew from time to time. No one would've ever thought their world was getting smaller. Besides, with the recent stuff the girl did to them they weren't in much of a position to notice these subtle things.
Jasmine could only stare blankly. For the first time in years she was genuinely dumbfounded. How long could she do this? How did she do this? Her favorite phrase popped to mind. I am a Goddess. She always meant it just as a joke, playful humor, a gag. Could it be true? Another test was in order. "Okay....Grow!" Jaz commanded the speck between her fingers. As per her orders, the planet returned to its normal marble size in moments. The Goddess stared blankly at Earth, mind racing with the infinite possibilities. She shook her head before she got too ahead of herself though. Changing something's size and doing anything were totally different. There had to be more tests.
Right now though, only one test raced through the girl's mind. Her one poison. The one thing she could never do in all her life. Her fingers released Earth and relocated so that the orb hovered inches over her palm. Jaz's entire life she had to be careful. Always cautious that she wouldn't destroy anything or hurt anyone. She never once allowed herself to intentionally harm anything, no matter how tempting it was. But...if she really was capable of anything. Then if she were to clench her fist right now Earth would be fine. But if she was wrong...everyone...everything she ever knew would be gone forever. For the first time in her life Jaz felt the dilemma of holding billions of lives in the palm of her hand. Even so, slowly, her fingers began to wrap over the tiny blue planet. Almost in a trance the girl stared in fascination, willing with all her heart that her home be okay. Her fingers balled into a fist with Earth in the heart of her palm. Then she finally did, she clenched her hand as hard as she could.
She was uncharacteristically nervous. This was all a sudden impulse yet here she just acted. Her hands were sweaty, messing with her usual sensitivity. Was Earth fine in her hands, or was she just holding a clump of dust? As her mind kept racing she couldn't tell anymore. She'd find out the second she opened her hand. But she was scared to. Not only would this determine whether or not Earth still existed, it would determine what kind of a being Jasmine was. Was she a gigantic girl, or something more? Slowly, the fingers opened, Jaz's eyes clenched shut in fear. Once her fingers opened all the way she allowed herself a peek.
Earth was fine.
The planet that took the full brunt of Jaz's power stood proudly. The Giga Goddess sighed in relief, her senses returning to normal. Things she was too nervous to realize began to register in her brain. She felt it all. The struggles of the tiny people as her hand held their world tighter than ever before. There were quakes, there were thunderous cracks. Entire nations were flooded with her nervous palm sweat. But no one was fine. Once again, as per her will, Jaz accomplished the impossible.
There wasn't even awe. Jaz just...sat there, silent. But that quickly ended as the realization flooded into her. Her big grin returned as she cheered as loudly as she could. "I'm a Goddess!!!!"
The possibilities were endless. Jaz didn't have to be careful anymore! She could do anything she wanted and it would all go her way! For the first time in her life, Jasmine felt like the universe was truly hers. She truly was a Goddess.
"Now what should my first act as a Goddess be...?"
