Winry smiled at the show of brotherly love, supressing a giggle at the sight of Ed being held like a pet. She didn't want to laugh at Ed at a time like this, however, as she wanted to seriously discuss their relationship. She tapped Al on the shoulder and said, "Can I talk to Ed alone Al?"
Al nodded and handed his brother over to Winry. She sat on the ground with him and waited until Al was out of sight. She sighed and said, "I suppose you know about Al and me by now."
Ed replied, "Yes."
The silence spiraled between them as Winry tried to pick her words carefully. Finally, she said, "I've loved you both equally for a long time Ed. We knew each other since we were kids and have gone through a lot together. It hurts me to think of choosing between one of you. The last thing I want to do is hurt you or Al and the only way we can do that is by all being together. Is that too weird for you?"
Ed thought about it. He always had feelings for Winry and he knew that Al had always had feelings for her. He always thought Al had more feelings for Winry then he did anyway. But how should he explain it?
"If you and Al are happy together, then I'm happy for you." He said. "Besides, with you two at that size we couldn't really have a real relationship anyway."
Winry smiled, happy that Ed was taking this so well. It made things so much less complicated.
